Accused child killer escapes from Rumbek jail

November 22, 2009 (JUBA) – Madal Majok, who was captured in August this year by the Department of Criminal Investigation of Southern Sudan Police Services (SSPS) is said to have escaped by night from an SPLA secret cell in Rumbek.
Majok had admitted to killing a pregnant woman and her children in Makundi Payam of Wulu County out of revenge. Madal killed the pregnant woman together with her four children as they made there way home in March 2009. After the crime, attempts to capture him proved difficult and the police had to immobilize him, hence wounding his right leg with gunfire. He was taken to Rumbek State Hospital under tight security.
In his last interview in August in Rumbek hospital he said that he committed the crime because the rival Jur-bele clan had killed his cousin’s daughter who was under dowry.
After his treatment, Majok was last week transferred to the SPLA military secret cell located at the Project Development Unit (PDU) that is controlled by SPLA Major General Bol Akot Bol.
At a briefing in Rumbek East County on November 15, the Commissioners of Wulu County Simon Waywai Ali and his Rumbek East counterpart Mabor Mayen Wol asked the slain woman and children’s family to remain calm. Commissioner Wol said investigations have been launched to track down the killer in a bid to take him back to jail.
Security in Rumbek East County is not at its best but his office is fully in charge, said Commissioner Wol, adding that the main threat now is the Nuer cattle raiders.
He also added that the voter registration exercise has been put on hold in some constituencies following attacks by the Nuer cattle raiders.
Commissioner Ali said the security situation in Wulu County was improving but cautioned people against posting malicious notices at night, saying that it was causing panic among the citizenry.
“We have identified the culprits as members of SPLM-DC who are out to create more insecurity here”, he said.

Why are you trying to put your culture on SPLA-DC? instead u should be investigating why he has committed such crimes and yet u are accussing DC. Majok is ur dinkas so how comes that you are isolating him to DC? Ha ha ha very funny is Manyang interpreting the article into negative form. Don’t be like Philip Thon with his rotten information.

Dear all, prison escape do happen in every country, but ours in Sudan is always planned by relatives who are in high positions. This is why we alway quest our GOSS to put in place the rule of law to protect its citizens and these are weaknesses which opposition parties like SPLM-DC use as weapons to discredit the ruling party. The hunt must continue to re-arrest criminal Madal Majok for killing the innocents. The surrounding communities must stay vigilant because Majok is now a wounded buffalo in the wilderness who can turn violent to any body.
