Kiir travels to Kampala to meet Museveni on border tensions

By James Gatdet Dak

November 25, 2009 (JUBA) – President Salva Kiir Mayardit of Southern Sudan traveled to the Ugandan capital, Kampala, on Tuesday to meet with his counter-part, President Yoweri Museveni.

According to the minister for Presidential Affairs, Dr. Luka Biong Deng, the meeting is expected to discuss border tensions between Sudan and Uganda in addition to bilateral cooperation between the two sisterly countries.

He said Kiir would discuss a lot about improving the relationship between Sudan and Uganda.

“The President is going…and to talk at length about how to improve the relationship and to maintain the relationship between Uganda and Sudan,” he said.

Dr. Biong added that the long time relationship between Uganda and Southern Sudan should not be allowed to be tarnished.

“Uganda for us is very strategic; is not only a neighbor; is a sisterly country. This is a country that contributed over time; standing with the people of Southern Sudan; and there is no way somebody to be between us in order to tarnish our relationship,” he added.

Tensions sometimes occur between cross-border neighboring communities at the area of Kejo-Kaji county of Southern Sudan.

Another similar and even more violent conflict between Sudan and Kenyan neighboring communities also sometimes does occur at Nedapal area.

Kiir is also expected to brief Museveni on the implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA), which his country contributed to its birth in January 2005.

The two leaders, according to the minister, will also discuss promotion of trade between the two countries.

James Gatdet Dak, discussions were held yesterday in which we Equatorians are not happy at all with results. For Mr.Kiir to come out with any substantial border issue with Ugandans and Kenyans, he must first consult the locals and perhaps the colonial maps before he goes ahead signing documents blindly. Yestaday, President Museveni forced him to sign a paper giving part of our land to Moyo of Uganda. I don`t know why Kiir fears Museveni like that. Both of them are presidents and each has the right to defend the sovereignty of their nation. He is not a good negotiator because he doesn`t consult. Kiir doesn`t know any boundry of Sudan with Uganda, we Equatorians know our boundry very well therefore, he must consult the locals and the MP in question before taking a step. I know that he will make the same mistake on Sudan-Kenyan border like he did yesterday by giving our land to Uganda.

Dinka bor ( you misspelled Bor into boy)

Body your name alone indicate that, you are dummy Dinka Bor boy, I better talk with those Dinkas with real names. Look my names how are they so universal, because you can find my names in Moro, Lokoro, Boya, Acholi, Nuer, Anyauk, Murle, Lotuko, Egyptian, Kenyan, etc but whom did you find him or her with the name Dinka bor or boy? that means you are not nationalist but tribalistic puppet so shut up.

For sure, Dinka Bor used to be very good people but criminals like you mess them up and we are trying to fix the relationship while crooks like you ruin it up again and again.

Shame on you tribalist Dinka Bor/boy.

I want you to change from you primitive ways of life and try to unit Murle and Dinka Bor, Nuer and Dinka Bor, Anyuak and Dinka Bor instead of acting wild.

    Please change.

    God bless

    Bravo Salva Kiir Mayardit,

Uganda is an important strategic neighbor to south Sudan. Make sure that no body, and I mean no body spoils the historical ties or relationship between Uganda and South Sudan.

But also make sure that you stand your ground as well on issues of national interest to South Sudan. The relationship must be built on mutual interest, not at the expense of South Sudan.

Yes and yes Murle live in the bushe and they will continue to live in the bushe, God created Adam and Eve and placed them inside the Bushe,( there were no cars, houses, boats, and banks ever since) but were you born in the 12-story building? did your father have modern permenant house? did you get to school when you were 2 years old? were your mother and father college graduate? did your grade parent have company or corporeration? did your parent own cars? refigeretors? microwaves? planes? shops? and plantations? if not then all of us are at the same suit as poor southerners, never pretend to call Murle bushe livers while acting like you are not.

Get the lession and learn everyday youngster. I am older than you and I may know more than you kid.

    Mohammed,NCP and other northerners

For north to settle the situation with the south they have to fulfil some important things

1-Implement the CPA to letter as agreed without trying to cheat the peace or violate it.

2-Stop immediate support which SAF is giving to LRA and other militas to kill civilians in south sudan.

3-Be honest and fair in sharing country resources like oil money has to be tranparent and distributed equally as agreed.

4-North or NCP has to participate in honest reconciliatory activities allover Sudan.

5-Solve Darfur problem honestly and give Nuba mountains their full rights.

6-NCP has to stop tribalism and idenfiying of Sudan as an Arab country and recognize Sudan as an African country.

7-Open up space for political participation and democratic system without trying to dictate.

8-Respect HUman rights, treat everyone equal regardless.

9-Allow full freedom expression and a free media.

Many southerners will Challenge NCP or northerners to implement the above points sincerely within the next 12 month if they want to try and pick up any last little hope for unity, i doubt this will happen.

Can any northerner assure southerners that this things will happen before janurary 2011?

What is happening in Sudan-Uganda border is not something good as everyone knows, this could be solve by our Leaders of the two countries Uganda-Sudan. Dr.Kiir and Gen.Museveni need to see those culprits who always make commotion in borders and bring them to face justices for their offences of borders

Since they were together during the war, then they should remain as one nation in peace time, remember this time is not suppose to be time for border discussion.

    Please let wait referendum time
