Bona Malwal expresses support for peace, unity
KHARTOUM, April 18, 2004 (SUNA) — The former minister of information and prominent southern politician, Bona Malwal, has stressed his readiness to cooperate with the government for boosting the peace process and speeding up the current negotiations toward maintaining the national unity in Sudan.
At a press conference he held Saturday [17 April] at the Conference Hall of Martyr Al-Zubayr, Malwal said that he returned to Sudan after a long stay abroad to support the ongoing peace negotiations.
Responding to a question, Malwal said that he will work to help the two negotiating parties to reach a final peace agreement. He said that all the people of Sudan shall work for boosting the national unity during the coming interim period.
He stated that he chose the current time for his return due to his belief in realization of peace, especially after the signing of the Protocol of Machakos which was accepted by the government, political forces and the Sudanese people.
Malwal has stressed the importance of achieving a voluntary unity between the north and the south.
He emphasized his support to any peace agreement which will be signed by the government and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement.
