WHO confirms first case of swine influenza in South Sudan

December 4, 2009 (JUBA) – The World Health Organization (WHO) reported the first confirmed case of Influenza H1N1 infection in the capital of southern Sudan region, Juba.

In a health situation report released on November 30, WHO said the patient who showed flu symptoms had travelled in Europe. It further added that a test done in a laboratory in Nairobi confirmed he is suffering from H1N1 virus.

The case prompted southern Sudan health authorities to take the necessary steps to contain the spread of the flu in Juba. “Furthermore National Influenza Task Force held a meeting and agreed to scale up the health education campaign.”

Last July Sudanese authorities in Khartoum confirmed the first two cases of H1N1 flu virus when two Sudanese returning from London tested positive for the virus.

This should be contained and awareness rised at all levels, Swine Flu is just like to typical cold flu but you can get it even without exposing to cold if you get in contact with someone infected, through sneezing or coughing in publiuc areas, They should know most people coming from Europe have Swine Flu, so everyone from there should undergo medical check if they do not feel well.

    Dear friend

swine flu, is a global outbreak of a new strain of influenza A virus subtype H1N1.it has nothing to do with dirty town or clean town.it is a virus,do you know what is virus? don`t get confusion with this non sence of those who came from abroad and claiming that Juba is the is most dirty city in the world.i except it , but do you what happen in this city? before the CPA , juba was normal town and its people keep hygene well, but when extruders(foreiners) from neighbouring countries come they brought all types dirtiness injuba.example Custom shop was not like that before, but when those prostitute and killers come and settle there, it turns into sometine that you will believe to be a market. how can people sleep in market people? this is Ugandan culture not ours.the government should have imposed laws and regulation to deal with them.
And secondly we can say those who came from the countries where there is the diseases are the one who brought it in Juba, so we can accsue them, and our corrupted Government of not conrolling the influx of people coming into the country.even those who are not educated(criminal, thieves, killers, prostitute, whore, and HIV Carriers) are everyday entering Sudan from Uganda, Congo,Kenya Ethiopia, and Erithrea and C.A.R and Chad. what are they coming for, if they dont have businees to do let them go back to their country.it useless to keep them in our country to rate of criminals.
dont accuse fellow Sudanese , they dont have such kind of thdisase because we dont deal with pigs here.
take care from those stupid Sudanese who went abroad and then claiming themselves to be best people.what have they brought to South Sudan, only corruption, and bad practice of denying their idenity.where have you been before going abroad, where were you bron? in this dirty cities of South Sudan, then today you are claiming to be somebody. you suppose to cry when seeing your Mother land like this?what kind of human being are we?

Swine Flu is already and epidemic in most developed nations, it is not about dirty, it is the ignorance about the diesease which allows it to spread, khartoum already has more than 70 cases of Swine Flu, more have died in other parts of the world, like Mexico, America, UK, Egypt and Saudi Arabia.

Ebola is a genetically engineered virus, it never existed before naturally.
