NCP party member arrested in Rumbek East County

December 4, 2009 (RUMBEK) – A member of Sudan dominant ruling part the National Congress party (NCP) in Lakes state is arrested since November 21 in Aduol headquarter of Rumbek East County.
Monyror Athuai Makueiping was appointed by the NCP Chairman in Lakes state Thomas Bai Malek, to monitor the ongoing voter registration process in the state.
However local authorities arrested Athuai and beaten with 130 lashes, NCP officials say.
Meanwhile, his comrade Makur Mabor Kau, who was also appointed with Mr. Monyror in same day escaped the arrest and fled to Rumbek the capital headquarter of Lakes state
However, the south Sudan ruling Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) County official affirmed that Monyror was found misleading voters, telling them to not register for the election.
The local county authority also charged him of buying slip voter serial numbers.
However, NCP Lakes state chairman, Thomas said that he would follow up the case of arrest and requested to conduct an investigation to prove whether his party is involved in wrong move aiming at sabotaging the voter registration process in Lakes state particularly Rumbek East County.
Complaints and rumors of voter registration frauds prompted southern Sudan authorities to deploy police and security elements to monitor authenticity of such rumors.
Speaking to Sudan Tribune last week, General Gier Chuang Aluong, GOSS minister of internal affairs, said, “We have heard of rumors that there are people who buy registration slips from registered potential voters.”

This Monyror Athuai/Thomas Bai Malek are accountable for misleading the vote registration in the State,and they must be jail.
We do,t want any single NCP in all ten states. They most join their NCP party instead of them playing dirty game in the South.
