Malwal urges SPLM to ensure freedom of expression in South Sudan

December 8, 2009 (KHARTOUM) — The leader of South Sudan Democratic Forum (SSDF) Bona Malwal urged today the southern Sudan ruling party to ensure freedom of expression in the semi-autonomous region before the upcoming election.

The Presidential adviser was recently in his homeland Gogrial County, Warrap state, to participate in the celebration of anniversary of a sultan there but he was prevented by the Sudan People’s Liberation Army from addressing a tribal event.

In a press conference held today in Khartoum, the southern Sudan figure complained from the lack of public freedoms in the south adding that the SPLM could not fight for these constitutional rights in the north while they are inexistent in the south.

He told reporters he had preferred to desist from addressing the tribal celebration in order to avoid clashes between the SPLA and his supporters in the Gogrial which is also the homeland of the Sudanese First Vice President and President of southern Sudan government, Salva Kiir Mayadrit.

Malwal said the SPLM has failed to establish the rule of law in southern Sudan giving indications for failing to prepare citizens for a referendum.

He further said he would lodge a complaint to the Constitutional Court in this regard.

Last week the former minister of foreign affairs and leader of the SPLM – DC, a dissident party from the SPLM, said had received a letter from the highest legal authority granting his appeal from a decision taken by the GoSS president banning his party in southern Sudan.

Today, Lam Akol informed the National Assembly of the ban of his party by the Southern Sudan government and the decision of the constitutional court, saying banning the political work of the SPLM-DC in the south is unconstitutional and a violation of the fundamental rights.

On November 9, Dr Luka Monoja Tombekana, GOSS minister of cabinet affairs, ordered the governors of all the ten southern Sudan states instructing them to allow the activities of all political parties “except the so called SPLM-DC”.

Another shining example of this party of mad cow disease being hypocritical, why these SPLM dogs cry about the North and go on a savage rampage all over the south and yet they arrest peaceful opposition members

You are right Mr ancient black arab. Every parties should be allowed to practice its activities freely. Even here in Juba yesterday when i was driving from Melekia to Mudiria roundabout i saw miracle. Students were vanalising cars and beating motorist beyond the expected level of protest. I hope everyone should come to understand why this goverment of sick services is failing to pay teachers? I urg that tension to remain for school purpose not to be extended to political issues.

It is too early to form those parites. Wait for 2011, the year we are sure we will achive our self determination/independence. Is that the reason of forming South Sudan Democratic Forum (SSDF) why you refused to come to South Sudan to participate in rebuilding of the country?. No doubt you have already been Arabised, any Southerner who has lived and eaten with Arabs for a period of time is Arabised and does not want his/her fellow Southerner, I seeing it happening here. Shame on Bona Malwal

Poeple with no spirit of Nationalism are allowed to have freedom of expression before the end of the Interim period,If uncle was in need of reputation in the South Sudan he would ve joined splm/a during the war.

What uncle Bona Malwal is doing is just a looting tactic of NCP money and he is the targeted foe of the Southerners.

We know that you’re part of the gang hired by Bashir to disrupt peace in the South Sudan. you and Lam are paying criminals to cause insecurity in the South so that the functions of the Government of South Sudan in providing services to the people are reduced. But remember we will not forgive you and your terrorists. Freedom is for those who fought for it not for those who want to live as slaves.

Bona Malual think he can be president by being a tribal leaders? HHAHAHA, he should be a national leader and not be addressing tribal gathering, that is not what election laws encourage, no tribalism, he is a weak leader with Arab agenda on his buttocks.

Why he does not condemn the arresting of oppositions and SPLM members in Khartoum then he is quick to talk about freedom of expression in the south while he is the advisors to Omer bashir. He is a Hypocrite.

Martin Elia is the deputy of the SSDF, he has been campaigning and doing his business without any interuption because he is focuing on national issues not on tribal and Arab issues like Bona Malual.
