85 students graduated from Rumbek college

December 9, 2009 (RUMBEK) – Southern Sudan Open College (SSOC) located in Rumbek graduated 85 students who took part in various training over two years in different certificate and diploma categories. Among the graduates, two were smaller boys who each earned a primary certificate.
College lecturer Riec Laat Lino explained that Southern Sudan Open College commenced operation as a private college in October 2006. It offered an intensive learning program for retired and active members of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement/Army (SPLM/A), and other organized forces.
He also affirmed that in addition to Rumbek centre, Southern Sudan Open Colleges operate in Juba, Bor, Yei, Kuacjok, Tonj, Wau, Yirol.
Michael Makuac Thon, coordinator of the college, affirmed that the vision of this college is to develop human resources that will champion the transformation of Southern Sudan.
In recent years, Southern Sudan’s government has aimed to boost education despite management problems. The GOSS education minister connected his alternative education program to the SSOC system as an improvised upgrade program in conjunction with the Department of Alternative Education and the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology.

I think that, it is very interested for us to see our students graduated in a wonderful country. This is a goal we all look for everywhere we are. For instance, this is a good step that marks our achievement within our country. I wish everything will be alright very soon. Anyway, the change is coming into our country and people will step forward competition as well as possible. Therefore, all young or teen will join hands to go to schools. So, the rests will follow their friends until they understand the education. For instance, the absent of education in South Sudan was the main problems that increases war and that why people hate each another. I hope the time for change is coming into our country. Anyway, let encourage our brothers and sisters to forget the pasts. My friends this is our time to come together and think about the future. I wonder which kind of graduation is that? Who should tell me how powerful is that college since the last time I saw Rumberk in 2008 it was like bushy hahah that is waisting of time in that college.

tell to the Minister of Education to enhanced the education system in South Sudan so that our students will not coming to study in Kenya or Uganda colleges/university. This will stop corruptions in South Sudan. Many big fish loots public money so that they can take their children into better schools in kenya/Uganda.
I guess these 85 students who managed to finihed their diplomas in South Sudan,are from poor background families who cannot afford to take their children to better schools elsewhere in the world.
