By Ngor Arol Garang
December 12, 2009 (KHARTOUM) –William Othon Aber, the newly appointed NCP Governor to the southern State of Upper Nile replacing General Gatluak Deng Garang vowed no support to all sorts of tribalism.
While chairing the state council of ministers yesterday on Friday11, the governor said would not tolerate tribalism, nepotism or any act relating sectionalism in his government.
The governor who hails from the area said was appointed to offer services for the people of the region regardless of their tribes.
“Now that I am a Shiluk, some people have already started to murmur about tribal linkage that allegations have increased with accusations of coming to work for the interest of Shilluk community even I could start working with members of cabinet,” he said.
“Please be informed that I was not appointed to the state as an ambassador of any tribe but to work for the betterment of all the people in this state,” he warned.
Following his appointment as NCP governor for the Upper Nile State, there were strong rumors that William Othon is appointed by the northern Sudan ruling party to facilitate the control of the area by the SPLM-DC Dr Lam Akol who is a Shiluk.
“I did not come to the state to frustrate, belittle or recommend removal any cabinet without cause but have come as a colleague to cabinet members and all the other officials of the government,” he adds.
William entered Malakal on Monday 2 December as new governor following acceptance by ex-governor General Deng Garang after reportedly convinced by Southern Sudan Vice President Dr. Riek Machar Teny to hand over the office to him.
Meanwhile, his deputy Dok Jok Dok during the same meeting commended cabinet performance in the state assuring him a lot of support from the members.
“This cabinet is energetic and supportive members that makes easy for implementation of developmental plans and would always give him all the support he may require,” Dok said.

Thanks William Aber for your excellent speech.
Indeed, we have no room for SPLM-DC prostitution in the Malakal town again. I am very please for your effort and dedication that came with you as NCP apointees.
Please works for the betterment of country(South) and not for your tribe line influences.
Moreover, i hope you will root out those criminals that are behind the attack of our leaders in the State of upper Nile.

The appointment of the new governor in the Upper Nile state was nothing new but votes rigging strategy for NCP. I have nothing against William on personal level or his tribal background however; his appointment came as a surprise to many people including myself who sincerely believe that William was appointed to destabilize the peaceful election in state. The removal of previous Governor, Major General Gatluak was orchestrated by Lam Akol, Cousin to William. This implied that William was never intent to bring peace in the state but channel agent for SPLM-DC and General Gabriel Tang Ginya.

Good job Dr William Othon.
Excellent to tell those Gaspers, but you should not have told them about your position because you know them already as gaspers. They think that William Othon will loot like what they are doing everyday in south. giving his tribe a job and other things. William othon is sophisticated man,he will not do that and also he is not like looters who are just corruptest who think about their stomach alone.
