Sudanese troops kill 15 gunmen in Darfur involved MP’s murder
December 12, 2009 (KHARTOUM) – Sudanese government troops killed fifteen gunmen involved in an attack against a member of the federal parliament in the troubled Darfur region.
Last Thursday some 16 armed men ambushed MP. Tageeddin Ahmed Al-Helu, who from the ruling national Congress Party, in the road of Nyala-Buram in South Darfur state and killed him after his refusal to give them his car.
Following the MP killing, the army and police initiated a chase for the gunmen and caught up with them south of the capital of South Darfur Nyala, said Fathel-Rahman Osman, chief of Nyala police.
He also said they recovered the car of the slain MP.
