Jonglei opposition minister, MPs join SPLM

By Philip Thon Aleu

December 15, 2009 (BOR) – Leaders of South Sudan Democratic Forum (SSDF) in Jonglei state are “convinced” to join the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) that rules the semi-autonomous region.

The SSDF former members are led by Jonglei minister for parliamentary affairs Gabriel Gai Riam and several members of state assembly.

In a statement signed by the then Chairman Gabriel Gai Riam and released to the press, SSDF says “After consultation with entire member…, we are convinced that the SPLM has the right vision for [all] marginalized in the Sudan”.

The letter applauds SPLM’s amicable resolution of conflicts in the Country and campaigns for democratic Sudan. And for SSDF members outside Sudan and has not got the latest development, the letter “therefore direct” them to visit nearby SPLM office register.

Speaking at an SPLM ceremony organized in honor of the new comrade, Mr. Gai Raim says the vision of SSDF has been a struggle for independent southern Sudan. But since the SPLM has shown strength and ability to attain southern independence, then hands must be joined, he says.

At least three members of state parliament (MPs) and over 200 supporters of SSDF has joined south Sudan’s ruling party according to the SPLM office in Bor. Though little is known about SSDF in Sudan, the state government recognized it activities and representations in both executive and legislature.

Jonglei Gov. Kuol Manyang Juuk, who doubles as SPLM chairman in the state, and his Deputy Hussein Mar Nyuot attended the welcoming ceremony at SPLM state headquarters. Buoth Chuol, Jonglei SPLM secretary and few hundreds of supporters gathered to witness new disciples delivering speeches of commitment to their new party.

What a heck is the SSDF?

These are bunches of NCP sponsors militias to destabilize the South.
They are Southerners and should be welcomed anyway. They were the destructors and destroyers pf South Sudan Independent for long time.

Where is Gatwech, Rambang, Thieling and whatever Gats or nyagats?

SPLM and SPLA are they only and only the liberators and party with the right vision for marginalized people in Sudan lets alone South Sudan.
Dr. Garang told Riek Machar in Nairobi that our self-determination as Southerners in the South is non-negotiable. We must negotiate for Abyei, Khordufan, Blue Nile or Darfur and South is our own. We will take it fast-tract. It is our land and asking someone for ourland is like asking someone else whether you should sleep with your wife or not.

Riek Machar is a slave, he held back John Garang and is now holding back Salva Kiir at all fronts of politics.Nuers are so confused.

“THE PURPOSE OF THE SPLM AND OPOSITION PROTEST WAS TO CREATE A SITUATION SO THAT THE NCP WOULD INEVITABLY OPEN THE DOOR TO NEGOTIATION.”
The basic point of Sudan as a nation is to provide a place and a means whereby human beings can live and work together
for the benefit of all. I would referred to what we called the Old Sudan where justice, equality, peace, freedom and racial
harmony reigned with supreme. But this Old Sudan is shunned with violence, hatred and vengeance by the National Congress

Party. As I can sketched there is no Darfur problem. There is no Southern Sudan problem. There is no Blue Nile problem.

There is no Nubian problem. There is no Northern Problem. There is only a National Congress Party problem.

As a man whose roots go deeply into Southern Sudan, I know how agonizing Authoritarian regime feelings are.

I know how difficult it is to reshape the attitudes and the structures of our Country. But the quater of a century has passed–

more than 53 years–since we were freed by English. It was more than 4 years ago that Dr. John Garang–a great vice

president of the Republic of Sudan and the president of southern Sudan –signed the ( CPA) Political Emancipation

Proclamation. But the emancipation was a proclamation and not a fact as NCP denied a democratic transformation in Sudan.

Which had resulted into riots five days ago. Half a century has passed–more than 53 years–since equality was promised by

Ismail al-Azhari and Gaafar Muhammad el-Nimeiry and yet Sudan is not equal. Half a century has passed since the day of

promise, and the promise is unkept. The time of justice has now come, as we all believe sincerely that no force can hold it

back. It is right in the eyes of a man and God that it has come, and as it come, I think that day will brighten the lives of every

Sudanese. For African are not the only victims. We all know how many children have gone uneducated. We all know how

many families have lived in stark of poverty. We all know how many lives have been scarred by fear, because we wasted

energy and our substance to maintain the barriers of hatred and terror. We can predetermined that those who appeal to us to

hold on to the past do so at the cost of denying us our future. The rich, and restless nation of Sudan can offer opportunity and

education and hope to all–African and Arab, North and South, East and West, sharecropper and city dweller.

Now let none of us in any part look with prideful righteousness on the troubles in another section of our nation.

There is really no part of Sudan where the promise of equality has been fully kept. In Blue Nile as well as in

Darfur, in South as well as Nuba mountain, We are struggling for the fruits of freedom. This is one nation. What happen in

Khartoum and Juba is a legitimate concern to every Sudanese. But let each of us look into our own hearts and our

own communities and let each of us put our shoulder to wheel out injustice wherever it exists. Men from every region fought

for democracy across Sudan for the last 21 years. And now in these common dangers, in these common sacrifices, the

South made its contribution of honor and gallantry no less than any other region in Sudan.
