Western Equatoria State says prepared to host 5th CPA anniversary
December 16, 2009 (KHARTOUM) — Joseph Ngere, the Deputy Governor of Sudan’s western Equatoria State, today said his government and people of the entire state are interestingly preparing to host the 5th CPA anniversary in the state capital of Yambio.
Because of this preparation the state government has already started ensuring that informal and/or inappropriate constructions including gauche shopping malls and dislocated houses are demolished and cleared off to create hygienic spaces and cleanliness in the town, he said.
Ngere, who was speaking by phone from Yambio, also said roads network in the town are being properly enlarged and leveled so that cars, motorbikes and bicycles could be driven smoothly without bumps, potholes and dust.
He said high ways that connect Western Equatoria to Bahr el Ghazal through both Tambura –Wau and Mambe junction to Rumbek are being cleared from landmines and trees that hinder vehicles movements.
“Already roads from Juba through both Mundri and Yei via Maridi are bringing vehicles safely to Yambio;” he said adding you can see the number of vehicles both big and small increasing inYambio because of this forthcoming anniversary event here, he adds.
The deputy governor who is also minister of information and communications continued to say that Mobile Telephone Communication Networks and internet services have also been made efficient to cover the vicinity villages.
Earlier, he also added that no squatting in and around Yambio and/or around historical graveyards such as the grave of Azande King Ghude.
What the Government and people of Western Equatoria State have so far started is very encouraging news that many peace loving and development concerned people would want to hear about Southern Sudan instead of exhausting efforts on increased criticism on unsubstantiated corruption, tribalism, political wrangling and other negative things that are detrimental to peace building and peaceful coexisting among people and states of Southern Sudan, he commented.
In Mundri counties, people are very excited of this latest development of extending CPA anniversary to western Equatoria and have started organizing themselves for event in their respected villages, he said.
As for State in general, I was briefed today by the organizing committees that all western Equatoria state Counties and their communities have massively mobilized themselves for cultural, sports and other joyful competitions during the CPA celebrations.
Each of them is determined to present the best show to entertain the guests and participants. They are ready to tell spectators and world that this State with all its communities and individuals regardless of politics are capable of doing well. If it happened, this shall be a great lesson that needs to be extended and continued in other Southern Sudan states, he commented.
Asked why it is rotated, he said, there are two things with one being bringing GOSS and GONU leaders closer to their own people so they are made known and to also help funds states some of their developmental activities through allocation of specific budget for celebration in the area.
However, the most important part of it is to evaluate achievements that have so far been executed from the declared promises in the agreement by the two parties upon signing four years ago in the Kenyans capital of Nairobi, he said.

This time i advice some of the hostile people to learn from us, last time it was celebrated in Upper Nile and the celebration ends up with bloodshed. This is a great event for the Western Equatotira state, be an example of unity and strength of the country by hosting this important event of the CPA, do not be deter by this terrorist groups of LRA rebels from Uganda, After this event Western Equatoria state will emerge strong and more mature and developed in its capacities in various sectors, like good organization, coordination, town rebuilding, good security and trade activities, this CPA event is the road to success for Western Equatoria state. Western Equatoria people you have to relay on your on strength and reshape your state by yourself with support from the central governemnt, this is a good example for all states to follow you, the Azande and Muru are known to have contributed alot in the history of Sudan struggle, when they and Nuer starter the first uprising of the struggle against the Colonial system before independence, so continue on the same footing of rebuilding your state and country, do not be mislead or blinded by some evil individuals who do not know what is going on on the ground in south sudan in terms of progress.

I am worning those concern in the forth CPA event on due in WES.
Western Equatoria state,is the home for Uganda Lord Resisstent Army (LRA) that alwas loughts fruence attract in the area.
It is better to prepare early by deploying a good numbers of the SPLA force in the area otherwise there will be no security grauntee.
I have been in Uganda those yrs back and i learn that LRA is realy cun.When ever they know that there is an event taking place then that thier chance to come and looting.
