Federal parliament endorses southern Sudan referendum bill
December 29, 2009 (KHARTOUM) — The Sudanese parliament endorsed today the southern Sudan referendum law paving the way for the organization next January for popular consultation over le possible establishment of an independent state in the semi-autonomous region.
The Southern Sudan ruling party, Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) rejected a previous version adopted last week because it contained more flexible dispositions for the vote of southerners based in northern Sudan.
The SPLM said it fears electoral fraud in the crucial vote on southern Sudan independence.
According to the new version, Diaspora and southerners settled in the northern part of the country since 1956 have to register and vote in southern Sudan.
Salva Kiir Mayadrit expressed yesterday SPLM’s commitment to “make unity an attractive option for the people of Southern Sudan.” However, he stressed “the SPLM will also respect and abide by the choice of the people of Southern Sudan.”

South Sudan is driving on the “African Highway” to independent. We should congratulate ourselves as a people, and the government led by Kiir deserve my kilo clap and a big bow to our late Dr for his skillful negotiated peace.
Folks, if a peace that was signed in a broad day light, wetness by the World most powerful nations of all time, with a regional body like IGAD being the official mediator hang on the balance with the NCP as its imediate prey, do we still have any person who believed that Khartoum Peace Agreement or peace within was really a peace?. I called it a trap by the name peace.
I urge the proponent of KPA to post it here on a Pdf document for those of us who hear say it to go through that paper for a while. A self-determination for the people of South Sudan in unspecified time frame. I may be wrong, but i need a document to prove myself wrong.
