Southern IDPS lauds latest passage of referendum bill with consensus

December 29, 2009 (KHARTOUM) — Southern Internally Displaced Persons, who moved to Northern States following eruption of the civil war in the south, have hailed the latest passage of referendum bill with consensus.

Speaking at Arabi, Khartoum city center, Nike named as Navaisha business market, Deng Chol Aweer, from Northern Bahr el Ghazal State, said glad to hear final adoption of the referendum bill without parliamentary boycott which obviously indicates no agreement has been reached.

“We were worried that parties to the agreement may not reach a consensus after the National Assembly hurriedly passed this bill by majority votes last week,” he said.

“Therefore, I take this opportunity to covey my message to authorities at the presidency to adopt similar approaches to addressing other remain sticking points,” he said adding that citizens interest determine the fate of the nation.

His remarks came following adoption of long disputed referendum law paving the way for 2011 referendum for southern independence on Tuesday, after northern and southern leaders thumped up the deal on a disputed article.

The new version of the law approved by MPs includes a provision demanded by southern politicians that requires Diaspora southerners to cast their ballots in the south.

A previous version adopted last week had allowed for absentee votes, prompting a walkout from parliament by southern politicians fearful that if southerners voted in the north there could be fraud and pressure by the Khartoum government.

The United States had said it was “deeply concerned” that the earlier text had been stripped of the wording previously agreed with southern politicians.

The promised independence vote is a key plank of a 2005 peace deal which put an end to two decades of civil war between north and south.

Southern Sudanese IDPS at Northern Sudan.

It is time now to leave Refugee places and come back to Southern Sudan before independencen announcement to air on 01/01/11. I asked my uncle in three years ago, to leave Khartoum and come back to Southern Sudan unfortunately, he refused to listen to me and Immediately I made my mind so and I had cut phone call to him because he is stupid However, I am glad that, the referendum bill has been pass and I think it is just a matter of time which was been signed in the agreement in Navaisha Kenya but those people like my uncle and many others who have still hoping on Arab hands will never seen anything good in their lives.

Southern Sudanese at Khartoum or Northern Sudan must not wait for darkness days as the dominators are not happy for Southern Sudan independence bill to be pass, but they have no choice because this is something the world was brought to witness and if they don’t do it then, they are going to be in trouble and so I would admire these IDPS, persons either in Norther Sudan nor others Countries in Eastern Africa special these people should leave Northern Sudan and come back home to wait Southern Sudan independence in your home even though your home is too poor you have to get use to it because the nation alone can not developing itself but the people yes, the development of Southern Sudan is going to be very easily as the most resources being used by the Sudan government are known to be in Southern Sudan and Southern Sudan nation will be the rich nation in Eastern Africa nations so don’t wasting your time at Khartoum.

South Sudanese that are thriving in the nothern part of Sudan must come to South before 2011 because the condition in the North will be worse than before. In fact, the Northeners were allowing you guys to live there so that they can used all of you militrarily. We SPLA capture alot of Southeners during the war by then;therefore, this should not happen again. I really encourage you guys to be in South because it is your home and there are uncertainity still.

I kept telling some of my friends who are in IDPS in Khartoum during the war that it is better to be in any refugee camp in East Africa than being in Khartoum. Now the truth is going to take its course. In 2011, whoever doesn’t want to be in the south, will be required to have a northern sudan passport, document that shows legitimacy to be in the north and that will be hectic for them. And if return home late, it will be tough for them to find a place to sleep and start and it will be another IDP camp for them. ‘Early bird catch the worm’Think on that!!!!!!!
