South Sudan authorities continue to intimidate splinter party

Next year Sudan will witness the organization of general elections in the country. To prepare this major political event, parties hold meetings and debates to organize themselves.

In a letter issued on November 9, Dr Luka Monoja Tombekana, GOSS minister of cabinet affairs ordered the governors of all the ten southern Sudan states to not hinder the political activities of the political parties “except the so called SPLM-DC”.

The SPLM-DC lodged a complaint with the Constitutional Court demanding to cancel a directive by the president of southern Sudan government banning its activities in the south.

Earlier this month the Court ruled in favor of the appeal submitted by the leader of the SPLM-DC Lam Akol against the President of South Sudan Government, Salva Kiir Mayardit.

However, the Democratic Change continues to complain from intimidations and harassments by southern Sudan local authorities.

The splinter party said its office in Bentiu, the capital of Unity state, was closed on Tuesday by the security forces and still remains closed today, Wednesday. Also, the statement said Central Equatoria authorities stormed a meeting by the SPLM-DC debating candidates’ nominations in Yei town in a meeting hall.

A statement issued by the secretary general of SPLM-DC Charles Kisanga said the reason behind these intimidations that southern Sudan security organs “are accusing our members of trying to buy voters or voter registration cards”.

However the party denied such accusations saying they have no money to offer.

True democracy is very far from being attained in Sudan. I don’t even believe that there will be elections, at least free and fair.

This so-called SPLM-DC is not a real party. It is just an amalgamation of NCP agents being prepared to cause chaos in South. Lam Akol is a sad chapter in the history of South. He has been at the center of most trouble in Malakal and should be held accountable. We will be waiting for you, Lam.

I wonder some times when people claim something for others to do while he/she can not do it by herself or himself.

The denying right of others is one of cases that let southerns claim for their right against northerners.

I think SPLM should have not repeat the same thing that she has been rejected from northerners people.

In my view on this behaviours, nothing call good future for southerns, because others may not silent, but they have to fight for their right too and everybody knows from the past. I do not mean refusal SPLM-DC party by SPLM,but you can figure out the future of others from that attitudes.
