Warrap Governor urges citizens to replace tribal war with farming
January 1, 2010 (KHARTOUM) — The governor of Southern State of Warrap , Tor Deng Mawien, has strongly urged citizens to consider replacing tribal fights with farming advising them to work hard as the nation enters the year 2010.
Addressing a New Year rally in Kuajok, capital of Warrap, the governor said tribal fights have little to gain than farming stressing that they are full of loosing human lives and properties
“For this reason and this reason alone I challenged every citizen of Warrap and beyond, be they males, females, adult or youth, to prepare themselves to working hard work on farms comes rainy season.”
The governor said that farming will allow to have enough grains “in our granaries and live in harmony with one another because there will be no any hungry person to attack another village for food or steal cows for marriage.”
“The grains which we shall have harvested from our farms will be sold for cash and if one needs cows you still buy cows with cash of your grains,” he explained.
Tribal fighting in 2009 left hundreds dead and displaced some 250,000 people. Also, the United Nations warned that parts of southern Sudan could be in pre-famine conditions.
The governor also called for peace and unity among the citizens and their local leaders thanking them for support which they offered his administration over the last years.
“As we begin the year 2010, let us maintain this unity by deliberately using our diversity of opinion to enrich the quality of our thinking and actions,” he said.
Mr. Mawien urged Warrapl citizens to reflect on major national issues as they prepare to face the next 12 months and hope to achieve even better results in all their endeavors.
“At this special time of the year, we all renew our sense of hope for the future. So, in a spirit of gratitude for what we have been able to achieve together over the past year, and looking forward to all that we hope to achieve together in the year ahead, my family and I want to wish you all the best of the year 2010,” he said.
He also said that Warrap for the first time elaborated an anti-corruption institutional framework in place, urging state citizens to work with the government in implementing the anti-corruption policy.
“It is in line with our president commitment to fighting corruption that my state government strives to ensure anti graft policies in Juba are extended to State of Warrap,” he adds.

Warrap Governor urges citizens to replace tribal war with farming
To Warrap Goveronr
Hard working is needed for for our Nation to calm down from civil war. Good to hear the governor saying that, but to urges all civillions governors,Commisioners of all southern State to have their own farm and stay dirty by working in the farm with no more hands in the pocket all days. Most of government offials are too lazy with a big belly, shealthy works is their main works. Sleeping over with out planing all day.
Due to that laziness lead to most shealthy people running Government offices. Public works have no hidden agenda; hidden agenda are the part of illegal works of stealing.
our ordinary civillion are suffering of being stop by robberries Soldiers. Business people have to be stop on the road by criminal soldiers looking for money.
Because soldiers are not organized and their salaries are not paid by the biggest belly people; who alway pocketing Armies Money. the governors, commissioners and top army officials should help reduce road stopping by SPLA and Demosticating formers youngs soldiers.
Having good school and reduce of dowry;encouraging the people to run their business with no stopping on the road.
I think the warrap Governor appearance might help a bit.
