Nine candidates to seek Lakes governorship

By Manyang Mayom

December 31, 2009 (RUMBEK) – Nine candidates from the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement will contest for the governorship of Lakes State in the 2010 election, according to Abraham Mayen Kuc, the chairperson of Lakes state electoral college of SPLM.

The governor’s seat is mostly sought after by Rumbek East and Yirol natives, including members of the badly split state cabinet. The whole cabinet in fact is contesting for either the governorship itself or for various posts in the South Sudan Legislative Assembly, (SSLA), State Legislative Assembly or the SPLM party list for the National Assembly.

The party’s final candidate for governor will be determined within the SPLM State Secretariat and then at the SPLM Political Bureau in Juba.

In legislative races too, the primary stage of screening will be done by party’s state secretariat, said Abraham Mayen Kuc, Lakes State Electoral College Chairman. Candidates include a mix of seated lawmakers, rivals from across the eight counties of Lakes state, key advisors and commissioners drawn from the state government headed by Lt-Gen. Daniel Awet Akot, and higher-level figures.

One politician coming from Khartoum, Andrew Makur Thou, in an interview this week at a hotel in Rumbek affirmed, “I am Ambassador General Andrew Makur Thou, nominating myself to contest for the post going to Southern Sudan Legislative Assembly (SSLA). There are three of us contesting for this one post of the constituency in Yirol West County. I am here with all my documents, everything is available, I came from Khartoum as presidential advisor and I need to win this election”.

Iam appealing to people of lake state to endorse or nominated only one candiate for the governorship. At this time we need very competive person who can provide good provision to her people instead of taking favoring one side. It seem to me that it is impossible 9 people contest in the post of the governorship. it is very apathetic and it show that there is no unity among yourselves. Let us allow person with clear vision to be governor in our state. Let us take one example , Northern barhzel gazell wich is called Aweil they have now nominated only one person for the governorship. Let us avoided barbaric act. Downmarket economic and politics that has reduce us into the lowest of humanity in southern sudan

    Dear citizens of lakes state

As you all heard of the registered candidates, its your job without discrimination, fear or corruption to elect an active governor that can serve you better than the current.

As you filled your list with those names, I know only two people out of those names, can change This state from calling it Lack state to Lakes state.

These people are Awan Guol Riak and John Rin Mabor, If you the citizens of lakes state needs development, good administrative government, that will be free from tribalism and nepotism then vote for Awan Guol Riak, and if you want to vote for the security of Lakes, disciplinary of the civilians, justice and fair employment system then vote for John Rin Mabor.

For rest Like Awet and Nok Marial, what I can say is, Like father like son, because they are currently in the office and whatever they will promise, why they don’t do it all this long?

I can’t even comment about the rests of the criminals who are contesting for the governorship, people like Mangar Mamur who was recently sacked from his religious role because of corruption and assume that he retired.

Lakers, be careful and make the right choices, that will be free from nepotism and tribalism,

you have to Change Lake state to make it a better place to be, than making it a war zone

I THINK THE WHOLE WORLD NEED TO KNOW THE TRUTH ABOUT THE AKOT INCIDENT. FIRST ALL I WOULD LIKE TO MAKE IT CLEAR THAT MANYANG MAYOM IS NOK MARIAL CAMPAIGN MANAGER AND IS NOT QUALIFIED TO A JOURNALIST AS INDEED SOUND MINDED JOURNALIST IN THE KNOWLEGE OF EDUCATION SHOULD NOT BE BAIS BUT GIVE OUT THE FACTS TO EVERYBODY. BUT MANYANG MAYOM IS GIVING THE WHOLE WORLD BIAS NEW EDITORY AND USING THE MEDIA TO SPOIL PEOPLE AND FAVOURING HIS PEOPLE THE ENTIRE AGAAR COMUNITY AS PEOPLE WHO KNOW EVRYTHING.

ANYWAY THE TRUTH THE AKOT INCIDENT WAS UNDER THE COMMAND OF NOK MARIAL BUOT AFTER VISIT AKOT THAT EVENING AND ORGANISED HIS PASTORALIST TO ATTACK SPLA IN THIER BASE AND MAKING THE FIGHTING ERRUPT INORDER TO FAVOR HIS ASPIRATION OF BECOMING GOVERNOR UNDER THE SCREENING PROCESS IN THE STATE BY THE ELECTROL COLLGE. BUT HIS FELLOW TRIBE BROTHER MANYANG MAYOM CENSORED WHAT EXACTLY HAPPENED AND GIVE LIES AND BAIS STORY INORDER FOR PEOPLE TO BLAME THE CURRENT GOVERNOR AS FAILED LEADER BUT THE TRUTH SHOULD BE SAID TO EVERYONE OUT.

IF YOU TAKE A LOOK OF ALL MANYANG MAYOM STORIES, HE ALWAYS PUTTING NOK MARIAL AS THE PERSON DO GREAT IN LAKES STATE GOVERNMENT AND DOING ALL SORT OF THINGS BUT MANYANG MAYOM FORGETS HE IS UNDER THE COMMAND OF LT. GENERAL AWET AKOT.

MANYANG MAYOM PLUS HIS CANDIDATES SHOULD LEARN WAYS OF COMPAIGNING BUT NOT USE CHEAP WAYS SEEMS TO BE BACK FIRING IN THE TIME TO COME.

I FEEL SORRY FOR HIM FOR MAKING UP THINGS NOT SAID BY THE GOVERNOR, FOR EXAMPLE

Lakes State parliament calls on UN ‘to intervene in deteriorating humanitarian crisis,’ as its failed governor, Daniel Awet, says: “If I was appointed as SPLA chief of general staff, I’d have dismissed all generals in the SPLA armed forces and that was the cause the president (Salva Kiir) declined to appoint me.” Could that have averted fighting between SPLA and civilians? SudanTribune.com 3/2010

THIS IS NOT HOW YOU PUT ….LT. GENERAL AWET AKOT, YOU ARE LYING AND MAKING UP STORIES INORDER TO FAVOR YOUR CANDIDATES NOK MARIAL AND AWAN GUOL., THIS IS NOT A STATEGY OF WINNING ELECTION.

BY THE WAY NEW OREDERS FROM SALVA AS FROM YESTERDAY DO INDICATE THAT ALL TEN STATES IN SOUTHERN SUDAN AND COMMANDED THE ELECTROL COLLEGE TO SUBMIT FIVE NAMES TO THE POLITICAL BEREAU IN JUBA AND THEY WILL DO THE SCREENING FROM THE FIVE NAMES OF ALL STATES IN SOUTHERN SUDAN
SO PEOPLE THOUGHTS THAT IT WAS ONLY TWO PEOPLE UNDER SPLM TICKET BUT ITS FIVE NOW.
