SPLM SG says party presidential candidates to be declared in few days
By James Gatdet Dak
January 12, 2010 (JUBA) – The Secretary General of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM), Pagan Amum Okiech, said his party would declare its candidates in the next few day for all constituencies and positions the party wants to contest across the country.
Amum said this will include the candidates for presidency in both national and Southern Sudan seats “if the party decides to contest” for such positions.
He called on the people of Southern Sudan in general and the SPLM members in particular to respect the final decision of the Political Bureau and maintain unity in the region.
The party’s Political Bureau is expected to meet on Wednesday and Thursday and declare the party’s candidates in the next few days.
SPLM is the only major political party in the Government of National Unity that has not yet declared its presidential candidates for the post-war elections.
NCP has declared the incumbent President Al-Bashir as its candidate for the April 2010 elections.
Some of the other political parties that allied with the SPLM during the Juba Conference last year, such as Popular Congress Party and UMMA Reform Party have declared their respective presidential candidates.
Another major opposition party, UMMA, of Sadiq Al-Mahdi is yet to declare its candidature.
The National Elections Commission (NEC) has given until January 22 dateline for all political parties to submit the names of their candidates to the Commission for approval or rejection.

Mr. Pagan Amum,
The SPLM should ally with the NCP and confirm Al-Bashir as their joint candidate for national presidency.
Salva Kiir should maintain his position as First Vice President in the national government.
The SPLM should nominate Dr. Riek Machar as the candidate for South Sudan presidency.
This will guarantee peaceful and continued implementation of the CPA by the partners (NCP and SPLM).
This will be a very wise decision that will consolidate peace and allow the two parties to implement the agreement until referendum and post-referendum period.
Political Bureau members should stop resorting to trivial conspiracies against comrades which is self-inflicting on the SPLM…

Traitors aka Nuers,
That little weasel tribal chief will have his mouth watering waiting for the turn to run on SPLM ticket. <10 years in the SPLM automatically disqualifies him from running. His only choice? Form a nuer party made up of traitors and lose elections. Beg SPLM to be given a ministry to run: he will get the ministry of nuer civilization (if there is any). We will be whistling for a well-executed plan.
We are now looking for forward-thinking Nuer who have matured enough and have never betrayed South to take over nuer leadership and become true allies. Those are the ones that will truly turn thing around for his minority full of idiot leaders.
SPLM Oyeeeeee!!!!

TRY TO READ IT AND TELL ME WHEN I AM WRONG PLEASE
Dear Southerners, Happy new year.
I am too much worried about what is happenig now in our country South Sudan why because we have forgotten where we came from during the war. What we plan is to satify our needs in term of money, positions, land, cows etc but one day one time when Arabs find small chance, these properties we are greedy for will remain for them and we shall all be in trouble seeking slum somewhere i can`t imagine disgard of our tribes clans and educational level we have. Our government is getting tire of us better we correct ourselves so as to develop this nation (SS) with unified ideas rather then creating problems amongst our people. Lets comments as mature people and know our aims.
I know what is fighting with us the Southerners it money, but money can`t finish lets cooperate to build our country with confidentiality and compatriotism.
NCP doesn`t want the election to suceed as we are all aware that Bashir is needed by ICC incase they arrest that will surely lead to war.
And it is likewise bad for him to be candidates since he used his powers to killed a number of innocents in Sudan where there are currently the disables, widows and orphans. So, is he ready to lead who and they are the same voters if he fell to be elected then he must fight. To conclude, lets not laugh and sleep we are still with big problem and if we fell to work hard together we shall automatically get the feedback.
GOD HELP US!!!!!

Dear Southerners
I personally didnot understand why SPLM creating this huge procrsatination over the issue of not declaring the candidatures for all constituencies.
There may be something behind this delayment, but sort it out very soon the time is running remember that we remain with only two good months, we need to conduct compaigns very seriously to enlighten our people in a head of time.,We are in zero hour Mr.pagan.Is up to when you claim you are not ready? NCP declared their contestants and they are now in stages of awaring the masses for what is going to hapen in April 2010.
Wishing all Sudanese a peaceful Election
And Happy new year
