January 28, 2010 (BOR) – United Democratic Front (UDF), a southern
Sudan opposition party, has submitted 36 names for candidates
contesting for various parliamentary seats in Jonglei state
constituencies. The UDF have no candidate for Jonglei States
gubernatorial post, official says.

William Gatjiath Deng, the State’s party head of election committee
told the Sudan Tribune Thursday that UDF is “hopeful” to win most of
the constituencies where candidates are “active”. Mr. Gatjiath
attributed party’s failure to nominate candidates for the 91
parliamentary posts in Jonglei state to insufficient membership. He,
however, says the party enjoys political partnership with the SPLM
that dominates and rules semi-autonomous south.

“We are hopeful that we shall win most of the (36) parliamentary
seats,” says Gatjiath who is also a contender for Ayod south
constituency. “These are active members and enjoys support in their
constituencies,” he added noting that UDF’s success is boasted by SPLM
(Sudan People’s Liberation Movement) candidates’ selection that has
resulted to unsatisfied members turning independent. SPLM members who
deserted to independence included Alier Ayom Aluong who challenging
South Sudan legal minister Michael Makuei Lueth among others.

Three UDF women party list candidates are Joice Akot Jumma (Uror), Joice
James Konyi (Pibor) and Rebecca Nyajany Gony (Ayod).

The latest revelation of candidates by UDF and numerous independent
candidates challenging SPLM could make the journey to April, when
elections will be conducted, politically tense and testing.

Sudan is holding her first elections in over 2 two decades following
the peace accord signed in 2005 by former southern rebel fighters, the
SPLM with President Bashir’s National Congress Party.

Southern Sudan opposition parties already granted 15% representations
in the Juba government by the comprehensive peace agreement (CPA) are
contesting in the elections but endorsed SPLM leader Salva Kiir
Mayardit for Southern Presidency.

Well, the foolishness or idiotic process created by splm’S political idiots at the Political Bureau will make other parties win many constittuencies in South sudan. PB designed the SPLM’s corrupted selection to invite anarchy, and thus aviods the election all together. That was the plan. otherwise, how can a party like SPLM practices a foolish leadership at this critical time? Some members of the Political bureau wish to conduct no election in south sudan. They are afraid of elections.

The UDF will not win a single sit if the elections were held and voters given a fair choice. This is a party of TRAITORS who have nothing to offer to people of Southern Sudan.

SPLM is the only party to ever deliver South a dignified and secure peace based on insights and with effective countermeasures. Others will have to join and wait for their turn.
