18 people killed in clashes between south Sudan army and Misseriya

Southern Sudan government in order to curb tribal violence has disarmed local population in Unity state and also requires the Misseriya pastoralists to deliver their arms before to graze their herds in southern states.

“It was a surprise attack. They managed to kill seven — six soldiers and one civilian,” said the SPLA spokesperson Kuol Diem Kuol in a statement to Reuters about the latest attack occurred on Wednesday.

Kuol further said that eight bodies from the Misseriya were found in the Unity state. An earlier attack killed three from both sides.

Following the signing of the CPA and establishment of the southern Sudan administration in Juba, authorities urge the Misseriya to disarm before to cross Kiir River also spelled ‘Ba?r al Arab’ but the pastoralists say they still face attacks by gunmen to steal their cattle.

Regional authorities from both sides in northern and southern Sudan held reconciliation conferences between the local tribes to promote peaceful coexistence but the clashes continue to occur from time to time.

The tribal fighting between southern Sudan ethnic groups over cattle and land grazing caused the death of about 2,500 people, also some 350,000 people fled their home according to aid agencies.

Last January cattle raiders from Unity state killed some 139 people during an attack on neighboring Tonj East County in Warrap state. The fighting, purportedly over cattle, also left at least 90 wounded and several thousands head of cattle looted.

In another development, the SPLA spokesperson said that fighting between the southern Sudanese Toposa tribe and neighboring Kenyan Turkana tribe also erupted on Wednesday, killing eight people.

Cross border cattle rustling and attacks carried by the Sudanese Toposa angered Kenyan authorities and pushed Nairobi in the past to protest formally requesting the return of the stolen cattle.

Let them face their own music because he/she who does not recognize reason can not be told reason.Missiriya people are being armed by the Khartoum governmet in order to make the situation waste in Junnup Sudan. Are they part of Junnup Sudan? I don’t think so that they are.The SPLA must teach them a lesson that they will never ever forget for they don’t listen to people. This is not the right time for us to persuade people otherwise time is lapsed.

It’s very shocking to hear the so-called SPLA spokesman calling Misseriya attack a surprising attack. Obviousley this is not the first and will not be the last time. Misseriya will continue to attack any rate and SPLA army should be vigilant about these unwelcome terrorists 24/7 365. No more excuse!!!

FROM: DINKA RUWENG COMMUNITY OF BIEMNOM COUNTY IN UNITY STATE
TO: THE GOVERNMENT OF SOUTHERN SUDAN

Your Excellency Salva Kiir Miyardit, the Vice President of Sudan and a President of the Southern Sudan.
Your Excellency Dr Riek Machar Teny, the Vice President of the Southern Sudan.
Your Excellency James Wani Igga, the Speaker house of the SPLM/SPLA Representative.
Your Excellency Taban Deng Gai, the Governor of Unity State.
Your Excellency the whole Southern Sudanese people in Sudan and in other marginalized area.

As the tragedy news transpired on and on in Ruweng Land of Dinka Ruweng Community of Biemnom County in Unity State, we Dinka Ruweng of Biemnom County in Unity State, we are asking the whole Southern Sudanese leaders in order to scrutinize and see the problem of Dinka Ruweng of Biemnom County in Unity State. Since Ruweng Land was ruined by Arab in 1982, there is nothing substantially which ever come good again. When the death of Paramount Chief of Dinka Ruweng Community of Biemnom, Mr CAMILO KUOT KUR KUOT occured in 1980 in Biemnom County, Ruweng People of Biemnom remained in turmoil since the starting of the war in Ruweng Land when Arab Authority found the Oil in Toor Heglig(ALIINY), Territory of Dinka Ruweng Community of Biemnom in 1976. In 1982 after Arabs from Khartoum dislodged all the Ruweng Civilians from Biemnom County in Unity State, the Khartoum Authority Regime sent their forces to Biemnom for the seek to control Oil in Heglig(TOOR ALIINY). That is why Ruweng Land of Biemnom has never been in a good stablization than it usual. Today, we Dinka Ruweng Community of Biemnom, we are still facing the same atrocities.

It is something very shock when Dinka Ruweng People of Biemnom County are still facing the same situation of 1982. This situation is the one forcing the Dinka Ruweng Community of Biemnom to run or deserted to different places such as Twic of Bhar-el-ghazal, Nuer, Panaruu as well as others run to Khartoum for survial. It is really sound very painful when we heard that Arab wage the war against the people of Dinka Ruweng of Biemnom County. Where is our Government of Southern Sudan? Imagine, Arabs Misseriya are still in GOLI village of Dinka Ruweng. Ruweng Land of Biemnom become unpopular because Arabs use it as a main hiding place. Last time when 17000 soldiers from Khartoum Government where expatriated from Unity State, all those soldiers where expected to be send to Khartoum, but unfortunately, those soldiers did not reach to Khartoum. Majorities of them where deployed in Ngol-Kou of Dinka Ruweng Community of Biemnom County in Unity State while the Government of Southern Sudan think that those soldiers are sent to Khartoum. That is a big white lie. If Arabs or Misseriya still bringing their cattle to graze around River(Kiir Ruweng of Biemnom or Kiir Kou) of Dinka Ruweng of Biemnom, then what is the point of CPA? Last few months ago, war emerged in Weraghoor Swamp, Ruma~ngoon village, Angara and GOLI. All of these villages are from Ruweng Land of Biemnom County and Arabs come and grazed their cattle in these areas.

As of other important things behind the sence, we Dinka Ruweng Community of Biemnom we need the Government of Southern Sudan in order to work on Regional Borders. Dinka Ruweng of Biemnom had emerged in series impact of borders and number of prevarication being carried by some other neighbour communities such as Dinka Panaruu and Dinka Jok of Ngok-Abyei. In 2008 when the Ruling of Abyei was announced,Foreign Minister Deng Alor, Edward Lino Wuor and Luka Biong Deng have made a fraudelent in the land of Dinka Ruweng Community of Biemnom in which Deng Alor attempted it to seized Heglig(TOOR ALIINY)of Dinka Ruweng of Biemnom County and mapped Heglig(TOOR ALIINY)to Abyei Map. As a result, Deng Alor, have denounced that Heglig(TOOR ALIINY)is not a Territory of Abyei after Heglig(TOOR ALIINY) was annexed to the North. This is another big thing which is affecting us we Dinka Ruweng Community of Biemnom County in Unity State. We don’t know actually why Ruweng Land of Dinka Ruweng of Biemnom County become like a “main field for Soccer game like this”?

Again, it had happened that when our three leaders from Dinka Ruweng of Biemnom County and Six SPLA soldiers were killed in Heglig(TOOR ALIINY)of Ruweng on February 10, 2008 at Biemnom County by Arabs Misseriya, the report come as that the people where killed in Abyei which is completely wrong and wrong. These people were not killed in Abyei, but they were killed in Ruweng Land of Biemnom. This is what happened exactly again when the reported that 18 people were killed in clash with Arabs Misseriya in Unity State. By the way, what part of Unity is the clashes occured? If I’m not wrong, then the clashes occured in GOLI. GOLI is a Territory of Dinka Ruweng Community of Biemnom County in Unity State. What we need is the truth and not just telling thing in a half way. The Voice of Dinka Ruweng Community of Biemnom has been silent for a long time because there is no one representing this Dinka Ruweng Community of Biemnom County in the Southern Sudan Government. Dinka Ruweng Community of Biemnom County is facing a real disaster from Arabs, Dinka Jok of Ngok-Abyei and Dinka Panaruu for just a matter of Oil in Heglig(TOOR ALIINY) of Dinka Ruweng.

Lastly, it happened again when Deng Alor denied that Heglig is not a territory of Abyei, Benjamin Mijak Dau, a representative of Dinka Panaruu in Unity State, he has assumed that Heglig is a territory of Dinka Panaruu and name it as Panthou which is useless and unremarkable absurd speech from Benjamin Mijak Dau. Nowadays, all Dinka Panaruu called themselves Ruweng and they are not Ruweng from the very beginning. What we need we Dinka Ruweng Community of Biemnom County in Unity State is the Security Level. We are in great hardship life since Arabs are still in Ruweng Land of Biemnom. Right of everyone has to be maintained the way it fit to the people. So we need our right we people of Dinka Ruweng Community of Biemnom County in Unity State. After all, Deng Alor, Luka Biong Deng and Edward Lino Wuor and Benjamin Mijak Dau should face the blame of suppressing the right of Dinka Ruweng Community of Biemnom County. Thank you all and we hope that our voice we Dinka Ruweng Community of Biemnom County is heard and we urged all the leaders of Southern Sudan to put this into consideration as a main agenda. Once again, thank you and God bless you all.

Really I’m astonished by the behaviors of the brother misseryia face to the new reality on the ground…my I advice to this tribe to assimilate carefully the changing reality around them to identify where lies their interest, in future South Sudan republic or in north Sudan since the separation of the Sudan is became imminent issue just a matter of time, the missariya as pastoralist need to pasture for their cattle and obliged to remain more then seven month of the year in south Sudan.. So why not thinking seriously and rationally to claim their selves as south Sudanese people, and work closely with indigenous as well as the authorities to build the confidence and live in harmony in the new multiethnic South Sudan . Instead being manipulated by NIF/NCP who destroying the county unity by fueling the ethnic conflict, hate to destabilize the future new born state in south, the Misseriya need to rethink again and again to avoid any misunderstanding with southerner and respect the orders given by the local authorities. In return they can reclaim the safety and the security for themselves as well as their livestock and I believe the south Sudan government will never betray them..
