Yirol County of Lakes state rallies for Yasir Arman

February 16, 2010 (RUMBEK) – Politicians and residents of Yirol West County of Lakes state on Monday turned out for a large rally launching the political campaign supporting SPLM’s officials nominees at the various levels to contest the April election.

The rally in Yirol was attended by thousands of natives on Monday morning. The gathering was administered by county officials and activists who support SPLM candidates.

Agok Manyiel Dhieu, county commissioner affirmed that he will support all political parties’ nominated but he affirmed that SPLM candidates will win more seats in both parliament and governorship in this coming April election at all cost of constituencies of Yirol West County.

The commissioner noted that “We will support the official nominees of SPLM party as well as those whose manifestos focus on the development of South Sudan as well those candidates of good plan of change and not change that can damage SPLM vision”

He also added that those candidates who wish to change SPLM policy with their own ideas will not be supported by the county supporters.

Chief Majok Adut asserted that SPLM is the South Sudan is the real livelihood known by everyone in Southern Sudan – we will support SPLM nominees including Yasir Arman in Khartoum who is contesting with Omer Al-Bashir. The chief affirmed that Arman will win the presidency while SPLM’s candidate for the Lakes state governorship, Cde Chol Tong Mayay will lead at the level of Lakes state polls.

He also demanded that Yirol must to be given the position of deputy governorship in the new cabinet of Chol Tong.

Speaking at the rally held in Yirol West town, a youth representative voiced their support to SPLM but warned all candidates not to attempt to destroy youths’ futures in the New Sudan.

The state-owned Radio FM-98 has allow only fifteen minutes daily to others political parties to share their campaign manifestos with the public, prompting complains from speakers of various other political parties.
