S. Sudan army attacks press report alleging it raided into Kenya

February 17, 2010 (JUBA) – The Spokesman of the Sudan People’s Liberation Army (SPLA) dismissed a report circulated in Al Intibaha’s Tuesday edition that SPLA raided into Nadapal area in Kenya and killed two soldiers. He said that the paper “deliberately misquoted Reuters” on the details of the event.

On Sunday, two Kenyan soldiers were shot dead and six others were seriously injured in the Nadapal area, Nairobi’s Daily Nation reported. The paper noted that there have been frequent shootouts between Kenyan security forces and Toposa militia who resent the presence of the government forces.

Likewise, Reuters reported Monday from Isiolo, Kenya that raiders from Sudan were responsible for the bloodshed. The news agency cited defence department spokesman Bogita Ongeri, who pledged that Kenya is working with Sudan “to arrest the gang responsible for the killings.”

SPLA Spokesman Maj. Gen. Kuol Deim Kuol provided additional details based on information from SPLA forces. He said that Turkana rustlers raided Toposa cattle camps inside Southern Sudan near the Toposa village of Nadapal on February 4. The attack heightened tension between the tribes and left six Toposa and two Turkana dead.

Then on Sunday, February 14, the Toposa youth ambushed a vehicle inside Kenyan territory between Nadapal and Lokichoggio, killing two and wounding an unspecified number. Presumably this is the attack reported by Reuters.

Nadapal has pastures and watering points that are shared by Turkana and Toposa pastoralists. The border region was used as an SPLA staging area during parts of the war. The spokesman said, however, “SPLA was not and can not be involved in the tribal clashes between Toposa of Sudan and Turkana of Kenya.”

The spokesman stated that “It is shame on Al Intibaha to twist what was reported by Reuters with the malicious aim of misleading the Sudanese people and the world at large.”

Al-Intibaha is a pro-National Congress Party daily.

GOSS must take attention to all borders with Southern Sudan.

These two Tribes Toposa and the Turkana their bitter relationship did not stop since there was a Nimiery the former president of the Sudan and late former president Juma kenyatta and it need Kenya and Southern Sudan to deal with this properly. Southern Sudan government must not sleep special at this time, because there are many enemies of peace agreement who want to make things bad between Southern Sudan government and the Kenyan government and I think the Kenyan people need to be aware on that, the peace agreement which was signed in your Country is became a problems from the Khartoum government and this is why they bribes Toposa and the Turkana to cause a bitter relationship between Southern Sudan and the Kenya government. Kenyan people must understand that, Khartoum government are unhappy for the peace agreement which was signed five years ago, as I would suggest the Kenyan people know very much that, the SPLA have not caused anything bad to them for many years and I think both sides, they should have find out the way to deal with this kind of situation otherwise, there will be too much blames from every one side but they must not allowed Sudan enemy of peace agreemen to destroying their good relationship between two Countries.

This is the fake news reports which have no substance or even any phsical evidence, that is w hy we are always talking about control of media freedom from violating human rights, abuse of media by such Arab wanna-be newspapers only expose it as an Islamic fundamentalists mentality which is too deformed to be reformed, this are the kind of reports which make Israeli agents justified to kill Arab criminals.

Kenyan ministry of defence mentioned it very clear that Kenyan solder were attacke by UNIDENTIFIED persons, and there is no evidence that unidentified persons are Sudanese, they could be organized criminals operating within Kenya, in the last month hu8ndreds or weapons and ammunition cahces has been unreveal and discovered in different locations in kenya’s rift valley, this show that there is an organized crimnal activity inside Kenya to bring violence in Kenya or between Kenya and its neighbours, so the Kenyans defence ministry and police should get to the buttom of this instead of relaying on fake and misleading news reports from international and Arabs media which is meant to divert Kenyas authorities focus fromt he real culprits and criminals of such cold blood attacks.

This attacks where not carried out by any Sudanese and there is no evidence of that, it will be pre-mature for any new agency to rush and blame anyone before any investigation or available evidence, the attacker attacked the Kenyan army convoy then they fled the scene, so nobody knows who they are or where they came from, but the news reports seems to be coordinate with tthis event to cause a diplomatic conflict between Kenya and south sudan, however this will not succeed because we want to keep our neighbouring and african relation good and strong and should not allow foreign criminals to mislead the countries in the region into conflict with eachother. All we can condlude is south sudan and Kenya have a good and strong brotherly relationship , this has made many countries to be jealous and angry so they want to mess this relations by any means they can, so we have to stay focus and not allow this to happen.
