Bashir, Kiir & Taha meet in Khartoum on Darfur, CPA

February 20, 2010 (KHARTOUM) – The Sudanese President Omer Hasan Al-Bashir of the Republic held a meeting on Saturday with his First Vice President Salva Kiir and Second Vice President Ali Osman Mohamed Taha to discuss a number of issues including recent Darfur accord and outstanding issue of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA).

Sudan official news agency quoted minister of State at the palace Joseph Montwell as saying that the three talked about the Darfur framework agreement with Justice and Equality Movement (JEM) signed on Saturday in Chad.

Montwell said that the agreement forms the basis for a final solution to the Darfur problem, pointing out that Bashir will witness the signing ceremony in Doha in the coming days. The meeting commended the efforts of the Chadian President Idriss Deby who mediated between Khartoum and JEM.

Furthermore the meeting tackled the formation of human rights commissions, South Sudan and Abyei referendum pointing out that consultation will continue to complete the formation of commissions. The presidency also discussed arrangements for post-referendum decided to form joint committees on them.

The presidency official said that $200 million have been allocated to finance infrastructure projects linking between the north and the south and service projects in cooperation between the National Government and south through the Unity fund.

A report was delivered at the meeting from the chairman and vice-chairman of the Technical Committee of the border between north and south and it was indicated that the bulk of the demarcation process was completed.

Last month a Sudanese official warned that failure to conclude the post-referendum arrangements is a “recipe for war” given the items included such as border demarcation, nationality and Nile waters.

The Nuer quest for rights and democracy”.

    Listen to this:

A Nuer was in an airplane. Other passengers got drinks in cups with uniform color. The Nuer got his in a different color by chance. The Nuer lashed at the hostess: “Am I not equal to others that you gave me a different cup? Take it away. I do not want to drink”. One passenger volunteered to exchange cups. The problem was solved. The Nuer was satisfied that his “dignity and equality” was restored. He did not care about how people thought of him. He cared about the end result. Anyway, that was the Nuer equality at its best anywhere at anytime. What remains to be seen is whether all the Nuer will ride a car and live in a house like that of Salva Kiir in order to be equal.

It is by the way for Basshir to have held meeting with those who are unhappy with his governance. We need only to the system of dictatorship by only allowing any person whether from NCP or not apart from Bashir. We have had enough from you, so you better give this chance to others who are also the natives of this country. You calling for meeting at this time is an indication of just buying votes from the illiterate group. What have you been doing so far when they were dying from your own hands.

This is an important meeting, the leaders have to iron out any outstanding issues regarding the CPA just before the elections start, also we need to see more transport infrastructure build between north and south, the train has now been fixed and reached to wau last month, now more roads and river ports should be agreed on, this infrastructure will help the economic cooporation of north and south if the two sides seperate after the referendum, it will also improve relation to prevent future conflict between the two sides, so NCP and SPLM leaders should make sure all this are dicsussed and ironed out before the elections and referendum, Salva Kirr should ask NCP to give SPLM more information of its previous LRA and other milita files and what they know about them at present moements, SPLM will also promise NCP not to work with or suppoprt any rebels in the north. This is a good start forward, there is no other options through which things can ever be fixed in Sudan or Africa but only through cooperation.

Benje Kiir be careful from these Arabs, they are worried about you and your brother Abdul Wahid and Darfuris in general are about to come back to each other. Before restoration of these relations they told you no more talks with you and you have nothing to say. Your VP Brother Riack was expelled by NCP and and he accepted the expulsion. Watch out man we know you are doing fine.
