Gubernatorial candidate campaigns against corruption in Bentiu

By Ngor Arol Garang

February 23, 2010 (KHARTOUM) — An independent gubernatorial candidate in the southern state of Unity, Angelina Teny has embarked on her electoral campaign in the area with a strong focus on fighting against corruption saying it cripples development and stability of any country.

Without reservation, she said hopeful that she will win the upcoming election and will initiate viable plans to fight against corruption through strengthening and reforming of the financial system and law enforcement agents.

The official, who served as state minister of energy, said in an interview from Bentiu today that the fight against corruption calls for concerted efforts by all stakeholders as it affects not only developing countries but also industrialized ones.

“Corruption exists everywhere in the world and has adverse effects as the vice takes resources and services away from the people who need it the most and only benefits a small portion of the population,” she said.

She said her government if elected will work out effective plans to ensure that it strengthens the economic structures that prevent corruption.

She said through the fight against corruption, government will ensure it keeps track of how money is being spent and that all funds are used to benefit the intended target.

But was quick to add that the fight against corruption should not be left to government alone; the civil society also plays an important role in making government responsible and accountable for incoming funds and its expenditure, she said.

She has also called for increased support towards the agricultural sector so that levels of food insecurity and poverty can decline. With the emergence of climate change, whose effects are being felt globally, food insecurity will be more prominent in the near future if the agricultural sector is not being fully supported, she commented.

As long as people do not sustain better and improved agricultural methods, it will be difficult to address food crises especially in terms of sharing of food being produced globally, she added.

She said her government will encourage the local population to adopt new farming techniques that are sustainable and do not necessarily require expensive equipment.

“Our local population will be encouraged to adopt new farming techniques to help empower them and put them in control as opposed to having farmers who cannot afford to store food for them due to poverty,” she said.

She herself and her husband Riek are corrupt.
The sign illegal oil contracts and steal alot of money.
How can she claim to know something about corruption when she is the champion of corruption.

Taban Deng will win no matter how you try with your husband to twist things around.

Even God forbid women to lead!

Angelina Teny-the independent candidate seems she is looking for the position of governor, which i think it will be very hard for her to manage because their meandering between enemy for bribe will not create more harm than benefit in Unity State. She should be mindful for the waste that Angelina and her husband did when they signed unoticed oil contract with Bashier so that our mean enemy/Khartoumers explore and exploit our resources for no condusive benefits in the South.
This Teny should not make noise here in the South because their background is full of backwardness instead of forwardness.

Moreover, if you demand the governor position, then please step down from the SPLM position and go ahead embark hunting for position in Unity State while you already handover the position of Energy and mining you holding in GONU.
Taban must serve and take us to 2011, the time of uncertainty because you/Teny will be the first to run to serve place when you heard difficulties. Please just wait because we know your intention in the South.
    Thanks

Dear all, that is the real fight in the Unity State, corruption is the key in the southern sudan government. Unity State is the main corrupted state governnment in the south right now, since Taban Deng devoted the resources that suppose be used for the state development and left up people in the state for political survival and bribing all political bureau members and including Saliva kiir who is believe a quarterly half of $35 million dollars. Anjelina is the real one for the state, so he has no DNA of Arabs and looting things. She is trained by his husband Dr. Machar of stagin away from the public resources. She will win no matter what. Saliva Kirr and Taban Deng will lost Unity State.
    Thank you,
    Kuany Dak

Wasn’t madam Angelina a minister of Energy and Mining? What did she do as minister of energy and mining? she couldn’t even handle oil money and she didn’t even know how many barrels were drilled each day not even an hour or a minute. Now she have a brain to talk about corruption? What a jerk?

Can some one tell her sh is also a part corruption.

Being a minister of Energy and Mining and member of advisory board in JARCH OIL COMPANY is a corruption known as “CONFLICT OF INTEREST”

What a pig with lipstick on her lip?

My brothers of Unity State, ask madam Angelina and Governor Taban real questions and not just talks of talk. These are the people who will be a part National resources management team. Oil is a National resources regardless of what you say. Otherwise you guys need to dark tap madam Angelina’s mouth she is already a failure. I don’t know what she done as a minister of energy and mining period.
