By Tesfa Alem Tekle

March 10, 2010 (ADDIS ABABA) – Ethiopian prime minister, who last night returned home from IGAD summit in Nairobi, said on Thursday that member states have set new directions and agreed to extend full support to bring lasting solution to Sudan’s political problems.

PM Meles Zenawi, also the current chairman of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development(IGAD), said that although significant progress is achieved after the signing of the Comprehensive peace Agreement in January 2005.

He noted that some components of the CPA are waiting for implementation and member states have the diplomatic responsibility in handling to the challenges facing along the way, although the decision making remains within the hands of the two key signatory parties, NCP and SPLM.

“It is decided for a launch to the delayed demarcation between south and north Sudan and for a referendum commission to be setup soon,” Meles Zenawi said.

“An IGAD ministerial team will also pay frequent visits to Sudan to evaluate the progress in the implementation of CPA,” he added.

The IGAD chairman said that an IGAD secretariat office will be opened in south Sudan’s Juba town to enable a close follow up on the effective implementation of the 2005 peace agreement and also to provide support accordingly.

With upcoming elections set for April this year and next year’s referendum for next year swelling fears of instability, the latest decisions made by IGAD states is believed to prevent Sudan from possibly going back to war.

Sudan shares its borders to nine African countries and its stability impacts all the neighbours, the region and the continent as a whole.

If CPA and Referendum for people of South Sudan fail or collapses, Nurs would be the main reason for frailer of our country ambitions of independent State. They are the reason behind instability in South Sudan today; Nurs have created instability in Upper Nile State, Jonglie State, Unite State.

The blood of our fallen martyrs and suffering of the all South Sudan people will be in their hands, we the people of South Sudan will not forgive them for their betrayals forever. Our curse will be upon them eternally.

    Thanks,

    Dear IGAD Memebers and Chairman,

The only solution to this problems is peaceful seperation of Southern Sudan State.
Otherwise allowed Southern Sudan State through this CPA, REGARDLESS OF ELECTION, WE WANT THAT AGREEMENT TO BE PUT IN USE WITH NO DELAY BEFORE 09/01/2011 AS KIIR SAID AND WE ARE WAITING FOR IT.
