Mongolia provides field hospital to Darfur

March 11, 2010 (KHARTOUM) — Mongolian government will send a military field hospital to the restive region of Darfur, in response to demand made by the United Nations peacekeeping department.

The hospital will be located at a UNAMID settlement in Kabkabia, about 170 km from El Fasher the capital of North Darfur state.

The medical team will provide services to some 5,000 people including peacekeepers aid workers and local population.

Following the expulsion of 13 major aid group including medical organizations like MSF from Sudan last year, the IDPs complain of epidemic seasonal diseases malnutrition.

The hybrid peacekeeping mission develops a humanitarian service to help camps residents but also to build confidence with the displaced in the war ravaged region.
