Top SPLM leadership travels to Jonglei state for election campaign

March 12, 2010 (JUBA) – The most senior leaders of the Southern Sudan’s ruling party, the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM), are jointly traveling to Jonglei state today (Friday) to carry out their re-election campaign in the state.

The incumbent President of the semi-autonomous Southern Sudan, Salva Kiir Mayardit, SPLM chairman and candidate to defend his seat in the elections and his declared “running mate”, the incumbent Vice President, Dr. Riek Machar Teny, who is also the party’s deputy chairman and Vice President designate in the next government if SPLM wins, are expected to visit a number of counties in the state.

They are expected to visit Bor, the state capital and historical town where the forces under the command of late Kerubino Kwanyin Bol rebelled against the government on 16th May 1983 and were immediately joined by another force from Ayod county under the command of late William Nyuon Bany. The forces moved to Ethiopia and were later on joined by late Dr. John Garang de Mabior who then formed the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement/Army (SPLM/A).

The two leaders are expected to jointly address the masses in Bor town. They are also expected to travel to Pibor, Akobo, and Ayod among other towns in the state.

Jonglei is the most affected state in Southern Sudan in terms of tribal conflicts resulting from many factors such as cattle raiding and theft, child abduction and competition over water points and grazing lands, and recently it included sectional clashes over government project in Twic East County.

The contesting co-running mates are also expected to travel to Upper Nile state on Saturday and visit a number of counties in the state including the state capital, Malakal.

Well, it is very nice to hear our great freedom fighters and patriots had now step to Bor area the worsed and devastated region affected by South-North civil war plus 1991 pre-genocide committed by My colleague commarade Dr. Riek Machar Teny.

It is good witness and see how best the citzens it is.
If our leaders really need peace and prosperity in Southern Sudan, then it is their right time to improved situation in Jonglei state because Jonglei state is our foundation of GOSS, if they are wipe out as some think of, then there will be no Southern Sudan in future to come.

Remember, this is time for forgiveness and reconciliation, what happen had happen, and we should forget about it
Time of war is war time and people think in mind of war,
so we need to forgive, as time approach, all these Doctors Kiir and Riek should be vote in their position because they can do something good to their citzens.

Even though majority of Bor said” if we forgive Dr. Machar as we are still alive, what about those who are under grave, who will forgvie them”
Those people who cooperate in time of hunger, it is very hard or difficult to seperate than those who cooperate in time happiness.

Murle, Dinka, Nuer plus other Equatorian tribes need to disarmed for our country to be stable indeed.

I don’t know what these guys going to tell Southern Sudanese because they have dreadfully failed to govern the South. Their administration has provided no services to citizens but chaos, confusion, embezzlement of public fund, to name a few. Southerners were better off in the bush under late charismatic leader, Dr. John.

The South is currently in state of uncertainty and disarray. Giving these guys five more years or so in the office is like digging your own grave.

    Amen!

shame on you Salva Kiir, after looting public monies in Nile Commercial Bank (NCB), you have started your compaign using those looted asserts, and asking the owners of those asserts to vote for you. will it be possible?, except if southerners are ready to lend more monies for looting by Salva Kiir.
