Eritrea should always be sanguine

March 22, 2010 — Lately the world body UNSC has slammed Eritrea with falsely fabricated forged accusation of helping military and monetary assistance to the Somali insurgents.
Helping the Somali citizens to come together to solve their cycle of violence since the early 90’s is not wrong neither is bad. Especially from a country who benefits the fruit of peace in Somalia as part and parcel of the greater horn of Africa that comprises others who are directly or indirectly affected. With the exception of the minority regime in Ethiopia who is desperate to use and manipulate the chaos in Somalia and with that the threat of Eritrea to stay in power, the countries who border Somalia are either the leaders are corrupted themselves and sold their souls or did not know what a permanent peace based on the inter-Somali solution can bring to their countries well being.
The UNSC on the other hand instead of trying to access a mechanism that resolves ones and for all, the self made irreparable tragic problem of Somalia has been made to be more complicated that needed the self crowned “crisis managers” to manage the mayhem of the poor innocent Somalis.
The UNSC resolution 1907 has brought the Eritreans in Diasporas and within the country together voicing “NO” to this illegal sanction. The writer has not witnessed such of anger among Eritreans that united them to act together.
What made Eritreans even more upset is the history of the same body that always favored their neighbor in the South at their cost.
The United States have worked diligently to Federate Eritrea with Ethiopia without taking into consideration the will of the citizens of Eritrea. The US has been the reason for the unification of Eritrea to Ethiopia that cost Eritreans over 65 thousands lives and irreparable damages on human suffering that does not include the lost opportunities on educations, health and life in dignity, among others. The United States played a leading roll, and was not shy to put forward its interest at the cost of Eritrea.
John Foster Dulles the then Secretary of State of USA has to say this:
“From the point of view of justice, the opinions of the Eritrean people must receive consideration. Nevertheless, the strategic interests of the United States in the Red Sea Basin and considerations of security and world peace make it necessary that the country [Eritrea] be linked with our ally, Ethiopia.”

This is what made Eritrea and Eritreans to take a stand against any UN resolution that harms their country and their people.
The upbeat part of this is the action taken for the peaceful demonstration by the Eritreans all over the world was mastered and managed by the young generation most of them were born in Diasporas. This demonstrates that the “Torch” that ignited by their fathers and grandfather is passing to the new generation who adamantly care for their country and for their people as their brothers and sisters pursuing their national duties at home.
Therefore, Eritrea will always be sanguine!
