Arab league and UNAMID vow to keep cooperating in Darfur

March 23, 2010 (CAIRO) — The Arab League and the hybrid peacekeeping mission in Darfur have pledged to continue their cooperation for the implementation of basic service projects, and to enhance peace and stability in the restive region.

Gambari_Moussa.jpgUNAMID Joint Special Representative (JSR) Ibrahim Gambari, who participated in Darfur donor conference, was received by Arab League Secretary-General Amr Moussa and Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Aboul Gheit on March 22 at the headquarters pan-Arab organization in Cairo.

The Arab League boss opened last February a number of rehabilitation projects including houses, schools, hospital, water services in three states of the war ravaged region aiming to encourage voluntary return of displaced people. The regional organization plans to implement further projects in the future.

During the meeting, Moussa welcomed Gambari plans to involve UNAMID in basic service projects. The two parties further agreed pursue their joint cooperation “to carry out these projects and to create the appropriate conditions for the consolidation of peace and stability and to facilitate the voluntary return of displaced persons to their homes and villages”.

The joint statement issued in Cairo said Gambari also showed UNAMID readiness to provide needed facilities for the Arab League to monitor the upcoming Sudanese elections
in Darfur.

He also thanked Egypt for co-chairing the donor conference and praised the work of the Egyptian troops on the ground. The country is among the largest contributors of peacekeepers to UNAMID, providing over 2,500 military and police personnel.

    Please move your ass out of Darfur, Arab League. Go and build your north Sudan as you usually do. You have lost the rest of Sudan through your arrogance. Instead to thank all Africans in Sudan for eliminating their mother tongues and started speaking Arabic instead you despised them and rewarded them by mass killings.

    I am sure the new generation in Sudan would rather prefer to speak Hebrew rather than to speak your primitive Arabic language which back warded us rather than the progressing, comparing ourselves with the rest of African countries.
