WES authorities disrupt Independent candidates meetings

March 29, 2010 (MVOLO) – Southern Sudan authorities in Mvolo County disrupted a meeting of Independent candidates in Western Equatoria State (WES) two weeks before the general elections in the country.

The last three months of the election campaign have particularly been very hectic for Independents candidates and their supporter in Southern Sudan. Local and foreign observers mention here the important number of irregularities committed by zealous officials sometimes contradicting instructions from Juba.

Col Joseph Bakosoro arrived at Yeri Payam last Friday evening in his first visit to Mvolo County since the beginning of the campaign. He and his team were received by supporters who met them about 4 miles from Yeri centre.

On Saturday morning, Mr. Bakosoro who runs for Western Equatoria State Governor and other independent candidates held rally in Yeri from where they proceeded to Mvolo.

However, Mvolo commissioner Wilson Abraham asked the campaign team to stop preparations for the meeting and to leave the area refusing to discuss his decision with the organizers.

Mr. Wilson who was suspected acting under the influence of alcohol gave orders to the police and other organized forces to chase away the independent candidates but they declined to obey his orders instead the commissioner started to act like an ordinary policeman.

He came near the cars of the independents in front of a lodge where they were supposed to stay overnight and asked the drivers to drive the vehicles away or he will shoot anybody sitting in the car. The drivers then drove off and the commissioner started chasing the vehicles all the way for about three miles before returning back. .

In another development, Majur Babur the caretaker of the WES ministry of education warned people at a rally in Karika from attending rallies organized by independents candidates.

Speaking to Sudan Tribune from Mvolo, Angelo Bakote, the campaign Manager of Bakosoro said, the Independents condemn in the strongest terms the intimidations by government executives and urged human rights groups to investigate such cases susceptible to “provoke violence”.

What a big lie from independent and quote: “He (commissioner)came near the cars of the independents in front of a lodge where they were supposed to stay overnight and asked the drivers to drive the vehicles away or he will shoot anybody sitting in the car.”

My question is, if you not really bunch of liars, why didn’t the driver stay and let the commissioner shoot people himself.

Whoever actually in the independents who makes up this news is not by any means helping with the inspiring of people if that what was meant, but rather degrading the independents.

I doubts if fabrication of news will really allured people to vote for independents.

Well this lloks like an incident of drunk people, this cannot be attributed to authorities disrupting independent candidates, if the commissioner was drunk and was out of his state of mind and was shouting and chasing the independent candidates who at that time would have also been drunk themselves, then how can you blame the authorities for actions of drunk individuals? ha ha ha
