Corrections and new details

April 3, 2010 (RUMBEK) — The office of Southern Sudan’s incumbent president, Salva Kiir Maydrit has dismissed reports published in Khartoum alleging that the SPLM chairman had called to support the candidacy of Omer Al-Bashir for Sudan’s presidency.

Press reports published on Friday in Khartoum said Salva Kiir during an electoral meeting in the Lakes state had said the SPLM decided to withdraw its candidate Yasir Arman in order to allow Bashir election for Sudanese presidency.

Kiir did not demand to vote for Bashir, an official of the GOSS presidency who accompanied Kiir to the Lakes told the London based Asharq Al-Awsat, adding “On the contrary, he said that the National Congress Party rigged the elections, although the Political Bureau of the Movement for this reason decided to withdraw its candidate for presidential elections, Yasir Arman on Wednesday”.

The SPLM chairman arrived to Lakes state capital, Rumbek, on April 1, where he held three electoral rallies in Wulu county, Cueibet county and Rumbek Central county. He also held a meeting in Rumbek North county and another in Akot payam of Rumbek East county. However, he had to cancel two meeting in greater Yirol due to an emergency meeting in Juba on Friday night.

As the rest of southern Sudanese, Lakes citizens were disappointed to the withdrawal of Arman from the presidential race.

In a report, Rumbek Sudan Tribune correspondent confirmed the inaccuracy of the allegations.

Salva Kiir Mayardit announced during his two day visit that the SPLM political Bureau had decided on Wednesday to pull out its candidate because the NCP was doing a lot of irregularities in the preparations of April election, said Manyang Mayom.

Kiire also underlined the lack of necessary conditions to conduct elections in the restive Darfur region.

Salva Kiir called for peaceful election campaign across Lakes state. “I don’t want any SPLM supporter harass any member of another political party – if you committed any harassment to others political parties, then NEC will open case against me and I will be speechless” said Salva Kiir.

He also called to vote for SPLM candidates saying Independent candidates are not representing the party’s vision warning they are implementing their own agendas.

South Sudan government denies Kiir instructing to vote for Bashir
    Dear readers,

Salvatore Kiir might have ordered voters to vote for Bashir like Malong of NBGS did in Aweil.

Kiir these days has been experiencing alot of slips of the tongue. In Aweil he told the rally that the independent candidates will be reinstated in the SPLM and now in Lakes he is talking a different thing.

Now that Yasser Arman is out, who is the SPLM recommending the voters to vote for??? This is a very big question. It may mean NCP. I believe Kiir wants voters to vote for Bashir but he fears to admit it……

South Sudan government denies Kiir instructing to vote for Bashir
Mmm! I knew it. having lost its political ground on what to do next now that the SPLM has pulled out not to participate in the up coming elections, the Khartoum government is hunting for the baseless accussations in oder to fool Southerners. Please, Southerners watch out for such comments.

Anyway, it’s nearly over as the clock is ticking towards 2011. Remember my comments posted on this website regarding the US envoy to Sudan statement on the South Sudan’s refrendumn( March, 26th).

If the the separation of the South from the north means a kind of being tired of war thus giving in forgetting the very reason why we went to war over the last 21 years, then I am against it. But if it means a sort of coming together while solving our differences as Southerners in order to build one united, stable and democratic South Sudan, then I am all for it.

Thanks to all of you. God bless you! God bless the Democratic Republic of South Sudan ( DRSS)

CORRECTED: South Sudan government denies Kiir instructing to vote for Bashir
I don’t think that there will be a denial in this. Salva Kiir had shown it in his speech that he gave in Juba that ICC is trying to deteriorate the CPA when they implemented charges on Omar Bashir. In this point, if Salva Kiir was not in favor of Omar Bashir, then he could not have to warn ICC from taking Omar Bashir to jail. I believe that Salva Kiir allianced himself with Omar Bashir already.

Second, the appointment of Yasir Arman to run for the position of Presidency by Salva Kiir Miyardit was a very big mistake ever made by Salva Kiir. At last he decided to remove Yasir Arman from presidency seat. This mean that Salva Kiir Miyardit himself was not aware of what he is doing. Who endorsed Yasir Arman to this position of Presidency? Is it Omar Bashir or Salva Kiir himself? We Southern Sudanese people need a leader who doesn’t changed his mind from time to time. We need a straight leader who said one word and do it. I thought that Salva Kiir Miyardit was a valor and a brave leader, but in reality he is not. I’m sorry to said this in my life.

Finally, whether Salva Kiir Vote for Bashir, no one will follow him. What I’m worried is the position which Salva Kiir is holding without doing anything to Southern Sudanese Civilians. He is supposed to give this position of Presidency to somebody who is competent to do the will of the Southerners. Salva Kiir go a head with Omar Bashir. We don’t need you.

What I know is that Southern Sudanese people are in dark shape. The vision of Dr John Garang will be revealed after 20 years again. I don’t see any vision from Salva Kiir at all. I’m sorry to said this. I’m fate up with this Salva Kiir’s Administration.
