Salva Kiir says no decision to boycott northern Sudan elections

By James Dak

April 9, 2010 (JUBA) – The Chairman of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM), Salva Kiir Mayardit, has denied statements by junior officials that the party had decided to boycott elections in Northern Sudan.

On Wednesday the SPLM Secretary General Pagan Amum announced that the Political Bureau had reached a decision to boycott elections at all levels in Northern Sudan with the exception of Southern Blue Nile and Southern Kordofan states.

Addressing a campaign rally in the Unity state’s capital, Bentiu, on Thursday, Salva Kiir said the Political Bureau did not resolve to boycott elections in the 13 states, describing the announcement as “unacceptable”.

He explained that the Bureau had last week passed a resolution to only withdraw the party’s presidential candidate, Yasir Saeed Arman, from the presidency race in addition to boycott of elections in the troubled region of Darfur.

Thank you President Salva Kiir for making that statement clear to the people. We will only participate in an election which can be trusted by whole world. This election is absolute Shame and it never be counted as an election in the history of the people of southern Sudan. We must only need to secure the referendum for the people of southern Sudan. Recently, Umma Party withdraw from the race and that prove the condition of this election as a fraud election.

I think this is a good reason to invade the south and restore democracy and bring back that rich piece of land to the main land Sudan. Sudan army should cross the 1956 border and push SPLA deep to the jungle and make them stranded with no where to go, we finsihed building our infrstructure in the north and our army are equiped perfectly and own unmanned plane for fighting, let them (SPLA) fight for another 50 years and after that we can go for third CPA. They (JUNOBEAN) will declare war against us anyway, whether the got separated or not then what are we waiting for!!

Ahaa now see whats happening?, if this report is true, then that means there is a little mess in the SPLM leadership. the hurried way to which Pagan and Arman announced the withdrawal of the party’s Northern Candidates, points to conflict of openion within the Political elite.

Salfa’s statement in a way reflects his dismay at some party figures who speak out of offical party policy. this was also affirmed by Mallik Agar’s statment. now if such an internal rebelion is taking place in braud day light, then why is the party silent on the rebels. we need the SPLM to come clean through an official statment so that we know its position on elections.

Pagan and Arman seem to be heading the wrong way and following the tricks of Sadiq Almahadi & his gang, wake up Comrades n lets focus on restoring the trust we are loosing now. Sudanese and more so JUNUBEEN are tired of bieng taken for a ride all the time, this is a small issue that should not shake our foundation. the struggle continues!!!!

    Dear readers,

It is becoming clear that those two communist boys (Pagan Amum and Yasser Arman) are rebelling against the SPLM leadership. How dare they announced their own personal decision and corrupted it to mean the resolution of the politburo? These two guys want to use the northern sector secretariat and turn it agains the leadership. They should be disowned and disciplined.

    Shame on undisciplined officials……..

Now Sadiq Al Mahdi of UMMA and Al mirgani of DUP are rejoining the presidential race.

    What a world!

Haaaaaaaaaaaaa! what a confused Party? It is very clear that SPLM guys are not coordinating their statements and activities, and that was what they had been doing in south Sudan in regards to managing resources and people. Look at Pagan, a confusing element. I suggest if Kiir wants to succeed and be honored by patriotic southern Sudanese, he needs to get rid of Pagan and replaced him with a sound-minded person from Equatoria though, to safe the face of SPLM as a party. My advice to the SPLM cadres is that they must change the way they conduct their affairs because we are in a democracy that is built on truth not lies. This is no longer a jungle democracy where one can say what he/she feels is right without seeing the consequencies. Pagan must go now rather than later if SPLM wants to save the party. What a shame for this mamas boy that is causing disquit often in a party such as SPLM? Salva Kiir must act now if he wants to save the party from collapse as a result of recklessness of Pagam Amum. Enough is enough for PAGAN because he is out of his mind.
