SLM rebels denounce US position on Sudan’s elections
April 10, 2010
The Sudan Liberation Movement/Army (SLM/A) led by the Chairman Abdul Wahid Nur, is closely following up the scenarios of the rigged elections which the result is very clear beforehand to all Sudanese and the International Observers .The incredibility of these dubious elections have forced the Sudan Peoples’ Liberation Movement/Army (SPLM) and other opposition political parties to boycott the elections.
The worst security and humanitarian situations in Darfur is one of the reasons that make us to assure that, it’s impossible to conduct any elections in Darfur. The attacks of Sudan Arm Forces are still continuous in all parts of Darfur; in addition to the latest Khartoum regime arming to Arab tribes to fight each other in the region. Moreover; the same current situation of insecurity forced the European Observers to withdraw their team from Darfur.
In these awful and devious elections circumstances in the history of this globe; where people of Sudan and Darfurians in particular are trapped. The US Special Envoy to Sudan Scott Gartion has blessed it before hand by saying “The elections are going to be free and fair” despite the majority of the Sudanese have rejected them.
The Sudan Liberation Movement/Army (SLM/A) need an explanation from Obama Administration giving the fact that America is leading pioneer country in human rights issues , rule of law and transparent democratic processes. So; why should America give fake legitimacy to a regime known worldwide as a genocide regime so as to continue the mass killing in Darfur? The Sudan Liberation Movement/Army believes that any expected consequences of these elections that would harm Sudanese people will be historical responsibility on the shoulders of Obama Administration.
