BREAKING NEWS: Angelina Teny reports widespread irregularities in Unity state
April 11, 2010 (JUBA) – A former official of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) who is independently running for gubernatorial position in Unity state has reported wide spread irregularities on the first day of polling in the oil-rich sate.
Angelina Teny who runs for governorship against the incumbent Caretaker governor, Taban Deng Gai, said her agents have been blocked by security agents from participating in monitoring the polling stations.
Speaking to Sudan Tribune from the Unity state’s capital, Bentiu, Teny accused the SPLA Maj. General Dor Monyjur in particular for blocking her agents from inspecting the ballot boxes in order to make sure that they are empty.
“Maj. Gen. Dor Monyjur is deployed with SPLA soldiers to intimidate my agents at polling stations,” Angelina said, an action she attributed to favor the incumbent governor Taban Deng.

Dear all,
I’m sorry to hear these regularities report in the unity state, it is painful to whole people in this state that five more years for Taban Deng Gai take this state back to stone age and backward development within ten states of south sudan.
I was in the state three years ago, the man Taban Deng has no vision and programs of action to develop state capital institutions of government, counties and locals government. You have mixed arab and Dinka stooges whose aim is to corrupt public resources. The two percent (2%) oil share in the unity states go to Warrap state, Saliva Kiir, and political bureau in Juba because they will keep him there while the state funds go into their pockets.
This is only state that has no budget of development project in the city, counties and its payam level. The state has only two bank accounts, one in state capital, Bentiu and second in Khartoum. Taban is an accountant and treasurer who oversees and write checks to everyone as he wishes. There is no transferences and check and ballance in the unity state. No even single ministry and county government had its own account to know exactly what is their budget is all about in the year.
I know this election is already spoiled. With the helps of SPLA general through initimadation, they will steal election for him (Taban), but the problem is not over because the people of unity state who needs Anjelina Teny into governship office, they deserve faire and free election, otherwise, it would be difficult to complete election in the unity state.
This election is not about Dr. Riek Machar and Anjelina Teny, but it is about people who stuck within corrupt practise. Anjelina is running as independent to revitalize people of unity state. Unity state has only one high school in Bentiu, none in counties and marginalizes primary education which had no qualified teachers. There is no single college or technical school in the whole state. No plan for development infrastructure such as roads, seaports, housing projects, agriculture, better schools, electricity, water, sanitation, hospitals, and including economic development that would reduce poverty in the state.
There is 18,000 employees under state government payroll while he told me, only 2000 employees literately write their names. What about 16, 000? What do they do? Within these employees, Taban had 100 advisers what do they advice him for? Where is $35 million of oil revenues that come quarterly to the state go?
These millions of dollars go toward corruption like I have already mentioned. Some counties within the states are marginalized than the others, it is painful, but as I know that Taban is going to face ultimate price either by vote or through bullet in the states if this arab son is not aware of his actions.
Anjelina, please go forward, we are with you in very moment that son of arab, he is going to hell with his gangs in Juba.
No freedom of people is ever suppressed without reviving.

It’s unfortunate that these things are happing at this important time in our country. Every one predicted they will happen and that’s so sad indeed.
I have been to Unity State sometimes last year and it will be surprising if Taban prevail in this election. He might do everything he wants, but votes against him will overwhelm his deceitful actions. People of Unity State, both Dinka and Nuers are fed up with Taban and it’s not doing any good for SPLM to impose this guy. Our party will jeopardize the important support of this State for years to come. Taban should refrain from his corruption practices at this important stage.
SPLM should clearly demonstrate that they are on the side of people and should protect the interest of people as well. Many big things are ahead of us and letting people choose what they want is more important.
For our Jonglei State, no doubt that Gov. Kuol will win more than 70% and soon declared himself as governor and lead our people to the next level. I still think Upper Nile will choose one of those independent candidates. Taban will not be back as the governor of this state unless these irregularities are more implemented
