European Commission donates 1.5m euros to Sudanese peace talks in Kenya
NAIROBI, April 28, 2004 (Sudan Tribune) — The European Commission EC has donated 1.5M euros in support of the ongoing peace negotiations between the government and the rebel Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) in Naivasha, Kenya.
The commission said in a statement issued two days ago that the donation is meant for the Inter-Governmental Authority on Development (IGAD) Secretariat in Nairobi to cover the outstanding bills in order to continue hosting the peace talks for the coming six months.
The funds are also meant to cover other related expenses for the international monitoring mechanism on the cease-fire agreement.
The United States are the sole contributor who finances Naivasha peace talks since two years.
