BREAKING NEWS: Angelina Teny’s campaign team leader arrested in Unity State

April 22, 2010 (BENTIU, Unity State) – Police has arrested the leader of campaign team for the independent leading candidate, Angelina Teny, in the Unity state’s capital, Bentiu.

Angelina Teny today (Wednesday) told Sudan Tribune that her team leader was arrested in front of the State High Elections Committee’s office in the presence of senior ranking officers and the team sent today from Khartoum by the National Elections Commission (NEC) headquarters.

She said the arrest occurred when other members of his team that accompanied him to the NEC office were prevented from entering the committee’s compound, prompting the police to arrest him when he tried to explain that they were his team members and should be allowed to enter.

Teny further added that the whereabouts of the team leader is not yet known, causing a big concern.
