NCP-list in Khartoum wins all parties and women parliamentary seats
April 23, 2010 (KHARTOUM) — The National Congress Party (NCP) won all the 24 seats allocated for political parties and women in the national parliament in Khartoum state, the national electoral board announced on Friday evening.
The list of winners includes the following: – Ali Osman Mohamed Taha, Ibrahim Ahmed Omer, Anthony Demogervs Yak, Ahmed Abdel Rahman Mohamed, Al-Tayyib Mohamed Al-Ghazali Ahmed, Joseph Alexander Makine, Mohamed Ahmed Fadl, Ali Ahmed Suleiman and Ali Mohamed Hassan Apressy.
The complex elections law of 2008 adopted a mixed electoral system. Some 270 legislators, 60% of the 450 MPs, will be chosen through the majority vote in their geographical constituencies. It also guarantees 25% of the parliamentary seats (112) to women and 15% of the MPs (68) to the party lists. Both will be elected through the proportional system.
Further, the party got the 15 parliamentary seats dedicated for women in the National Assembly. The total of valid casted ballot papers reached 1,285420 while the votes for the NCP list attained 1,065464 (82.89%).
The names of the winners include: – – Souad al-Fateh Badawi, Raja Hassan Khalifa, Badria Suleiman Abbas, Fadwa Shwa Cienq Yale, Bakhita Al-Hadi Abdelrahman Al-Mahdi, Ayesha Abdallah Khojaly Al-Gabshawi, Samia Hassan Sayed-Ahmed Idris, Balqees Osman Ahmed Tijani, Marwa Osman Ahmed Dgkinon, Atiyat Mustafa Abdel Halim, Nahid Mohamed Khairi Mohamadayn, Fatima Abdel-Rahman Abdallah Haji Faki, Samia Faki Awadallah Abdullah, Buthaina Khidr Mekki Al-Amin and Mona Ahmed Jadallah.
