BREAKING NEWS: discontented SPLA forces attack army barrack
April 30, 2010 (JUBA) – News reaching Juba have confirmed a military attack on SPLA barrack by suspected discontented army elements said to be under the command of an independent gubernatorial candidate who recently lost elections in the largest southern Sudan state.
The SPLA barrack at Doleib was attacked yesterday evening by forces that are suspected to be under the command of Major General George Athor, who recently lost against the incumbent governor, Kuol Manyang Juuk in Jonglei state.
A number of people are reported killed and wounded while four people from the attackers were captured and reportedly confessed that they were under the directive of Gen. Athor.
According to security sources, the attack occurred when the discontented forces surrounded the barrack and tried to break into arms and ammunition store in the barrack.
It was not clear why the forces wanted to take the arms, but sources were suspicious that they were planning for more attacks on other locations.
Maj. Gen. George Athor, the suspected leader behind the attacks, is currently based in his home town of Khorfulus, which is not very far from where the attacks were carried out across the border with Upper Nile state.

Gen George Athor cannot do this at all, He is man for the people who denied by Kiir poor leadership. Athor Contributed alot during the war like others Minister in the GOSS. Why Kiir refused him take the leadership in Jonglei state?
Athor along with others Senior officials of the SPLM Will take the people of Southern Sudan to referendum. He cannot attempted to attack his own people. we know that his right was denied by Kiir. He defeated Kuol During the election in Jonglei but he cannot kiiled his people.
Kiir want to take the people of Southern Sudan back to the war because he is not giving the people their rights.
He did this Unity state but the people of Unity state tolerated it and call for calm in the state.
Taban was defeated by Angelina Jany Teny with more 24,000 votes and Taban was declared himself as a winner and this cause a lost of lives of people in Unity state. And that was Kiir plan and Abel Aler to destroy the Unity state indirectly. Aler was first Southern Sudan who rejected the rights of Southerners in the first movement.

This attack has nothing with George Athor Deng. This news is fabrication against athor. Those attackers are Nuer Militia and SPLM-Dc,and you guys will hear this went the report is fully reported. These are mililtia of peter Gatdet, Riek Gai,and Dr Lam Akol.This can not happened to Athor because he lost very clean and no way he can act that way.
No! No1 No! this report will be clear out from those 4 captured. The 4 are all Nuer militia, how come George Athor order Nuer instead of his Jieng(Jang).

That is a good idea to GENERAL Athor to attack SPLA becuase they are so greedy and misleading the people of South Sudan especially a big idiot KIIR with his moron commanders. I think UNITY STATE should advocate you for this clean action. It is time to go banana since KIIR does not care of people of UNITY STATE after three people killed by him in the past weeks just becuase of the 2% share. Just asked yourself is the attacking of SPLA barrack will good for the independent of South? or is this kind of ill thought be the cues for the international communities and the others that the South will be the fail State. Think twice and then encouraged the attack of the SPLA in the South.
I think your frustration about the lost of Angelina Teny want to burried your ideas but you will not get anything from her let since politicians are always the same.

Why are some people encouraging violent here? What goal do they want to achieve through violent? You are hurting your own people if you are really Sudanese. Please do not encourage things unnecessarily. I know most commentators here are outside the country but they do not feel sorry about the suffering of their people. I know you had ever experienced the bitterness of war if you are from Sudan. So please becareful not to incite empty war. The war without defined goal is an empty war. Should a person start a war because he lost election? I do not think so. If you love your people you should not take that action; unless you are not a leader.
I do not believe George Athor can do that. We have to wait for more information.

I do not believe this story. Gearge Athor can not attack Deleib in Upper Nile. Instead, he can destroy Bor where Kuol Manyang reigns.
SPLM should not use the same tricks used by its ally, the NCP in South Sudan to mislislead the South Sudanese people whom they claimed to have fought for during the lonest civil war in Africa.
