By James Gatdet Dak

April 30, 2010 (JUBA) – The President elect of the semi-autonomous Southern Sudan, General Salva Kiir Mayardit, has issued a presidential decree dissolving the Southern Sudan Legislative Assembly and the ten states legislative assemblies.

Kiir issued the decree on Friday with effect from April 30, 2010.

The official spokesperson of the government, Paul Mayom Akech, minister of Information and Broadcasting said the dissolution of the assemblies was done in order to vacate the seats for the incoming elected parliamentarians.

Most of the parliamentary elections results have been announced. Others on party list and women list are expected to be announced by the week end.

Kirr must give Gen. George Athor issue first priority as that threats the mission of the SPLM, the South Sudan nation.

We must not afford to be naive this time!!!!!

    Dear all,
Stooges Kiir is playing everything in sight. Even constitutional parliament of south sudan and states assembles is said is being dissolved by decree. What a mess this guy is doing in the south sudan. This is bogus claim to show that he is in control of everything even the parliamentarians who were elected in their constituencies. Decree is only good for your cabinets Mr. Kiir.

Don,t think that South Sudanese have that narrow mind of yours to fight each other for the greedy of individuals. just wait for the results latter about the news.
You are dancing that Athor will fight but that is big no because we Dinka don,t just support someone who is not doing the right thing.
Haaaaa, just kill youself because of your lost independent candidate in Unity State or defect and join your friend/militia in the North.

our hopes for the new government that will take effect shortly are that they should avoid the mistakes, squandering, corruption, and mismanagement of resources in terms of finance and human and others. the new government must be effective as they were elected by the people to represent and carry out their wishes and aspirations. starting with head of state elect Salva Kiir mayardit they made many promises to the masses in terms of development, education, health, and better living standards for the southerners. those promises should be actualize and people will than trust the government and feel that it share and cherish their dreams.

As for the would be appointed ministers of GOSS, the previous practices of corruption should not prevail again, because the parliament will have jurisdiction to summon any one who is accused of mismanagement of government resources as it is elected and not appointed one.

the only institution that i deem to have done a commendable job during the GOSS tenure of the last five years was the south Sudan legislative assembly(SSLA). they write and enact bills but at the end of the day the were lended deef ears from the other government departments ,ministers, and officials, and the bills went unimplemented. i hope this round they should be more efficient, resolute , and resilience in following up the laws they enact with the related bodies , such as internal and legal affairs. it goes without saying that any piece of legislation should be put into effect by those who are concern. doing so will show that the government is by the people, and for the people not the other way around.

What is really happening in South Sudan? Is Kiir really in charge of the affairs of the country? What a democracy? So, this announcement mean the parliaments were not dissolved when people went for election. What a joke? Kiir is now dissolving parliament after the election is concluded.

Does the president of GOSS have powers to dissolved the State parliaments? I was thinking after the recent election there was going to be division of powers between GOSS and state parliaments. Kiir Powers will be limited at the state levels. No presidential decrees after the election Mr Kiir.
