Ruling party welcomes DUP participation in next Sudan’government
May 5, 2010 (KHARTOUM) — The National Congress Party (NCP) has welcomed the participation of the opposition Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) in the next government that it plans to form soon.
Following the landslide win in the first muti-party elections held last month The ruling NCP said it seeks to include only political parties that participated in the electoral process in the new government.
The DUP showed in a first time some reserves to this proposal as it also rejected the results of the polls saying the electoral process had not been free and fair. The opposition party also demanded to re-run the elections.
Ibrahim Ghandoor, a senior official of the NCP, in remarks he made today welcomed the DUP participation adding that the two parties would continue to dialogue.
He also hailed the stance taken by its chairman Mohamed Osman Al-Mirghani on the unity of Sudan, national Conesus and the International Criminal Court, adding it is conform with NCP positions in this regard.
Al Mirghani returned to the Sudanese capital Khartoum on Wednesday after paying two visits to the Egypt and Saudi Arabia.
It is reportedly that the NCP has offered four ministerial positions to Al-Mirghani. Asked about the ongoing talks between the two parties hr didn’t roll out reports about the ongoing dialogue between the two parties.
