South Sudan presidential advisor declines appointment in forthcoming government

By Ngor Arol Garang

May 6, 2010 (WUNROK) – GOSS Presidential Advisor for Political Affairs, Lual Diing Wol, on Thursday has disclosed his intention to decline another appointment in the upcoming government expressing his discontent with elections results.

The first multiparty elections since 24 years conducted last April were marred by irregularities, logistical problems, intimidations and accusations of riggings. Also, international observers said it failed to meet international standards.

Southern political parties equally accused security elements alleged loyal to Sudan People’s Liberation Movement to have been employing restrictive behaviors against their political activities throughout campaigning and voting periods. But both National Congress Party and Sudan People’s Liberation Movement members were ever quick to deny any involvement.

The National Elections Commission announced all presidential, legislative and gubernatorial elections results in favor of the two ruling parties in northern and southern Sudan leaving little or no seats to other political parties in both north and south. They accepted and celebrated results of their victories respectively.

However, Lieutenant General Lual Diing Wol, one of the most respected senior members of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement and who has never thought of changing his loyalty since joining SPLM as movement throughout hard days of the two decade years of struggle in the south, distanced himself from celebrations saying that results of the elections did not meet any item of the vision, mission and objective of the SPLM.

“The results announced by the National Elections Commission and accepted by the SPLM did not in any way meet any of the items of the SPLM vision, instead it has violated constitution and vision of the SPLM,” he said.

“Because of this gross violation, I have decided not to be part of the government that will not see participation of representatives of the people and this is why I have this morning called and told both President of the government of southern Sudan, Salva Kiir Mayardit and his deputy, Dr. Riek Machar Teny never to consider me as part of their future government. Because I have seen that this upcoming government will not be the government of the people by the people and for the people, Lual” told Sudan Tribune from Nairobi, Kenya.

He further said declining any future appointment because “this government would be dominated by individuals who came to it as result of violation of SPLM vision which recognize and promote people rights to participate in issues relating to how they would like to manage their affairs,” he said.

Lual said those who participate in the government or the legislative organs in the regional or national governments “will not be representatives of the people because none of them was fairly and competitively elected”.

He went further to say that the “current members were not elected but were forcefully brought by the party against will of the local people for whom we took arms to liberate from denials to participate in their affairs”.

“This was why we went to war against the central government to correct and transform it to be people’s government. Majority would have not gone to war if they knew we would adopt the same system,” he adds.

Lual Diing Wol, who is also known as Baba Africa, holds two strong memberships in the SPLM hierarchy as member of the National Liberation Council and another as member of Political Bureau which is the highest organ in the political structure of the SPLM. Prior to the signing of the CPA, he was known to have been effective and influential official advisor to late SPLM Chairman, Dr.John Garang de Mabior.

Gen. Lual Diing Wol is correct to be not associated with this morally bankrupt SPLM that is now populated by opportunists and traitors. We have to form a new SPLM-Patriotic Front that is based on the original visions and principles for which we fought over the last 20 years. In fact, all independent candidates were the real SPLM and espoused a vision that is in line with the original intent of the party. We are now regaining hope because patriots like Lual Diing are willing to stand up for what the believe and not corruption.

    Dear Uncle Laul Ding;

You have known the truth and the truth shall set you free in what ever future you will engage yourself. It’s sad, absurd and sorrow when our own long term party (SPLM) violates our rights in the very last minute after long years of struggle. We wished all the good hearted politicians will follow your move and decline for any appointements as well. If a country introduced dictatorship in its independency day that stay a stigma forever and difficult to erase; however, a country introduced democraticaly in its first year of its independent always stays fair, bless, non-tribal favoratism, prosper and so…on. Stay great Lual Ding and God bless your people of South Sudan!

Another fallen hero in our patriotic front, what a shame brought to us by this “Junta-SPLM/A”!!!!!!!????????

It was crystal clear there was no transparency, fair or just election through out the country. But the crucial question is;where are those who stand in the face of regionalism, tribalism, and the weary warriors of our SPLA?No one could stand up and say loudly,FOUL; THE ELECTION IS RIGGED!!!!.???

When we joined SPLA since its iception, not SPLM, we have been fully aware of the consequences of our stand against the central Government in Khartoum, but we never been educated or instructed in any way to betray our people!!!how come from out of the blue,a sector,if i can define it properly or a group as the commons calls,to dictate us to manuver our destiny?and in what bases???.

The emerge of the independent contestants off SPLM,raised a big surprise and too much questions to all of us,who are keen to see SPLM leading us in the footsteps of our late Leader DR; John Garang, that we will never be marginalized or soever!!!!!!

The previous GOSS Budget shows that, there was 8 BN.US$ been recieved by the GOSS,but we recieved nothing coherent to basic human needs!!!!so where is the money gone???

This is a first multi-parties election, and it is the backbone of our political future as SouthernSudanese, whether we stay united or idependent. But the irregularities, logistical problems, intimidations and harrasement has marred it all over the region, setting a precedental political qoup in the name of Democracy.SPLA soldiers were carrying the voting process instead of the electorates,in favour of SPLM Candidates, against the will of their own people for whom they carried the arms to liberate from political slavery of the NorthSudan Governments.

Now i recognize Mr; Lam Akol Ajawin claim against SPLM, and aknowledge his demands for change. It’s very sad to loose trust in our liberators and national heros…So lts be ready to confront those who stole our will and votes, and the liberation struggle continues.Oyeeeee

    Dear readers,

Lual Diing Wol has been the prominent advisor to Dr John Garang for decades, and there was no compliant let this that had happened. I believed there is problem in this SPLM because many traitors are playing nyagatism within and they are playing around with Salva Kiir, and that was the reason why SPLM choose to withdraw their candidates in the race without the knowledge of Awet Akot and the rest. This SPLM has become the house for traitors and there is no way we can not understand this issue from Lual Diing Wol. Sory guys because those mess never happend when Dr Garang was alive because he can not allowed traitors to play around like the way traitors are doing in the SPLM. Hope SPLM leaders and Salva Kiir will wake up. How come Unity State is always attacking civilians while their is no sound from SPLM. There traitors matip and Riek are always behind the attacks while those confuse leaders of ours are sleeping.
    Sorry!

    Dear readers,

Uncle Lual Ding Wol from Northern Bahr el Ghazal is correct about his disappointment. The SPLM is being destroyed by few communist unionists who have been rocking the boat carrying the democratic vision. They have rigged the elections more than NCP in the north. Shame!

    Ahahahahahaaaaaaa………..

Murlescrewed from Bor town is encouraging defection with his minority unionist group to form what?

Who will lead that? Pagan Amum or Rebecca Nyandeng or Deng Alor?

Or will you adopt Yasser Aram to lead it?

    Ahahahahahhaaaa……….

Please read the survey polling on Sudantribune, all those leaders are far behind Dr. Riek Machar who you say has no supporters. He is leading this communist Pagan by several points despite Pagan being backed up by northern unionists.

What else are you going to say, material leaders. Citizens were complaining across South Sudan that the elections were not free and fair, Yet those who are lost in the vision of the SPLM/SPLA could not accept. instead, they threat and torture the citizen with pretext of calling them Nyagat. Can you say the same to respected GOSS Presidential Advisor for Political Affairs, Lual Diing Wol?. My advise to GOSS president Kiir Mayar, if you didn’t distance yourself away from these guys who join the movement after CPA, then you are going to face it rough.
Gen like Athor, Dau and Gore can not be mistreated, if you really have vision of independent South Sudan.
    put your head on
