Sudan deployed Ethiopian blue helmets honored medals

May 13, 2010 (ADIS ABABA) – Ethiopian Peacekeepers deployed in the restive Sudanese region of Darfur on Tuesday received peacekeeping medals in recognition to their service and contributions to the peace keeping role of the mission in Sudan.
544 members of the Ethiopian military contingent in El Geneina, West Darfur, were awarded peacekeeping medals. in a statement, the United Nations-African Union Mission in Darfur (El Fasher) disclosed.
Ethiopian Ambassador to the Sudan Ali Abdo who attended the medal award ceremony applauded his countrymen for their dedication and professionalism.
“I am very happy that you are properly fulfilling your mission. This medal parade is a testimony of your excellent performance,” he said.
Ethiopia has contributed around 2380 Blue Helmets to UNAMID, as well as five tactical helicopters, which were deployed in February 2010.
Last year, Ethiopian Infantry Battalion to UNAMID, was similarly honored Medals for its significant contributions in bringing relative peace and stability in short period of time in western Darfur
Ethiopia’s current contribution to Darfur peacekeeping mission consists of an infantry battalion and engineering unit, as well as multi-role, reconnaissance and transport companies deployed in Graida South Darfur, El Geneina and Kulbus in West Darfur.
The Ethiopian troops also provide land and air transport service; conduct security patrols within their area of responsibility, to enhance security and encourage confidence within the local population, conduct escorts for humanitarian convoys and accomplish other peacekeeping related operations.
Currently, there are some 13,491 military personnel in Darfur out of the authorized 19,555; 1845 police, 1115 Formed Police Units, 1109 international staff from more than 100 countries, 2255 national staff and 335 UN Volunteers.

God bless darfur, Ethiopian in Africa,they have professional army, and they have no compromise to whatever happened in their territory.
Sudan Army Force must be very careful to play on innocent civillian in Darfur otherwise Ethiopian force deployed as peacekeepers will give them a lession which they will never forget like when they destroyed the islamis Court Union upto dead in Somalia, I think we can give due respect to them.
SAF have known what Ethiopia malitary force did to them in Sudan in favor to the SPLA, though I don’t want to explian the ful history, go to website and SPlA captured area Kurmuk, Kejikejo, Magui and Yei, you will have clue there.

Peacekeeping without the peace by it self. The only reason why Melese zenawi sending the so called peacekeeper is to earn hard currency .It is a very lucrative bussines for Melese and his Mafia groups.
