Kiir warns against consequences of war-mongering

By James Gatdet Dak

May 16, 2010 (JUBA) – The President-elect of the Government of Southern Sudan and Commander-in-Chief of the Sudan People’s Liberation Army (SPLA) warned against any warmongers that he would order for the closure of airports and borders with the neighboring countries should war erupt again in the region.

Salva Kiir’s bold remarks against those he said were agitating the situation in his Sunday’s speech he delivered during the celebration of the 27th Anniversary of SPLM/A founding, said he would not allow any escapees to neighboring countries.

“I know there are those who would want to pick their brief cases and run to Uganda or Kenya. I will order for the closure of all airports and borders to Uganda, Kenya, Ethiopia…so that no body escapes,” he said, prompting a mixed laughter and clapping among the crowd.

Kiir also warned against government officials who indulge in corrupt practices, warning that this time would be different and the culprits will be brought to justice during the next government.

He also warned the army against the corruption, saying some of their officers have built huge houses in Juba, indicating corruption.

On the North-South relations he said the SPLM/A would not allow itself to be dragged into war, but should it be forced to, he added that this time God would know that we are fighting a “justified war and we would defeat any body that would fight us,” he said.

The President of the GoSS advice hit the expectation!!

The president of the GoSS has foreseen the expected situation position of Sudan after the Referendum.

Yes, if the Arabs plan war after the Referendum as a tactical denial for the Southerners’ freedoms, then, the SPLM will respond as stated by the president of the GoSS. Escaping war to the Sudan bordering countries won’s garantee the release from the Arabs’s mistreatments.

Indeed , corruption should be stopped in the South Sudan and on the other hand, the corrupted officers in the GoSS who had built some houses in Juba are better than those who take some huge amount of dollars back to the western countries to purchase houses, town houses, apartments and others. The western countries are where the same donations come from. This senario is putting the westerners in a wonderful and a critism debate demanding to know why the Sudanese need help.

The president should double the speed to condemn the corruption in his new trusted leadership of the South. The officers whom the president refered to in his statement should stop such looting activities of the southerners’ resources.

Mr. Kiir Mayardit new elected leadership has started in a successful expectations. There is a big hope in Kiir’s leadership in this time around!!!

    Thank All

Say what……Mr. Kiir? Have you just woken up from your slumber or is it the fact that the ugly teeth of fear has started to bite you? Where were you when billions of dollars found feet and walked away from southern Sudan [ a couple of million dollars even flew to England ] and what war-mongering are you talking about because to me its sounds like “bullshit” and who are you kidding? The only people who are going to run to Uganda or Kenya are your partners in crime, who have embezzled the future of our nation and children. We all know that your sons and daughters are overseas with their mothers living cozy lives in the houses and villas you morons bought by our money which was stolen in broad daylight under our noses and in front of our very own eyes.

This time no one is going to be fooled by your cunning ideologies of deception and it is now evident that you are not capable of any leadership, whatsoever.full stop.

    Wad Juba Na Bari.

If I can remember well, Kiir rebelled against Dr Garang in 2005 just on the eve of CPA signing. Beause of the love Dr Garang had for the people of the South, he agreed to sit down with Kiir to sort the problem out. Dr Machar played a key role in the negotiation. Dr Garang reacted in the way he did because, a military solution would have had a disastrous effect on the CPA signing. Clearly, Kiir got his way, which was that he would remain the Deputy to Dr Garang and not Nhial Deng as it was rumored. Now, Athor, is doing almost the same thing: he is reacting on the eve of the referendum. If Kiir takes referendum seriously, then he should clear the issue with Athor long before the date of the referendum. There is no need to prance around like peacock when one knows that a small military rebellion can snowball into an inferno. Kiir must give Athor what he (Athor) demands; just like Garang placated him. Athor should hold out until he gets something and safe passage from Kiir. Otherwise, he will be court martial led and fire sqauded just like that. A lot of Southerners must be silently praying for Athor to succeed in his quest.

My president your message seems or sounds to be too late to the vulnerable people who had been slained by those people whom you touched with the
patriotic message, your message is not late nor in time but it sounnds little and
its your first message to renegaders and traitors since the inception of southern sudan. So iam asking southern sudanese to standard up and supports the president of southern Sudan, and first vice president of the Republic Sudan by turning this message into action to “sound louder rather then little”.These warmongers who put their interests first rather then puting country the fought first, needs to be questioned and could be held accountable to the lost of innocent people lives. I cannot hesitate on my point that radical majors are only equivalence to subversionary inhuman George Athor, and others trying to join him or already with him. Regarding corruption, i believe as well to be another war and it looks to be un winable but try your level best. You are hero because for your pyrrhic victory with your colleagues until we talk of southern sudan today.

“Kiir casts doubt on negotiations with renegade general” and “Kiir warns against consequences of war mongering” anyway God have gave Southern Sudan a leader who keep flip-flopping on the issues of life and death. Now he try to blame it on those who said harsh words on this conflict but you Mr. Kiir you are one amongst those. It is upto you to spoil your chance of leading or you going to lose it. Nobody want to keep putting spoon on your mouth and your days are going to be numbers. Let’s pray to God so that we can get our independent and by then there will no cheating or stealing election either, no military army who going to intimidate or threat voters to cause similar conflict we are in now. Let’s pray to God so that God has mercy on us so we reach that dream before we Kill ourselves.

    Yes or No.

Mr. President, I like your speech, but I’m just not sure if we can trust you on your promises. Because you have promised us with the same the rhetoric two years ago that you are going to crackdown the corruption in the South Sudan, and we end up with a skyrocking corruptions. Therefore, I will trust you when you delivered on your promises Sir!!

Dear SPLM leadership Secretariat, and the Council.
I am a concern citizen of Southern Sudan due to insecurity which sprang from the defeated General George Athor.
As my point of view it is important for our government to address this fragile situation before it is out of the hand as we don’t know the route course of his rebellion because he now use the election result as the base of his grievances of which I totally don’t agree with.
For the sake of peace to the people of Southern Sudan, I would like to request the government of Southern Sudan to take some peaceful majors to convince our brother Athor who forgot the reason why he fought against Khartoum regime.
Let our government look at the fate of southerners which is almost at the door but want to be interrupted by the enemies of peace and freedom of Southern Sudanese who had suffered more than two decades of civil war but now we need lasting freedom which can not be abrogated at any time.
I hope the new leadership of our party will prioritize the need and aspiration of Southerners and their protection as main agendum in the next government plan.
