May 21, 2010 (JUBA) – Three people were killed in Lakes state following clashes over cattle between youth groups of Gueibet County and Rumbek Central County.

Caretaker Governor Telar Ring Deng told Sudan Tribune that “the incident started on 14 May and continued until 20 May at the western part of Rumbek” he further said the cause was “simply cattle raiding”.

According to the reports he received two people were killed from Dinka Agaar and one from the Dinka Gok.

However, Telar affirmed that security measures are implemented in the area to prevent any further attack and cool down the tension there. “We have deployed combined forces to control places where the two parties can resume clashes such as Abiriu, Kubur-william and Cuei-cok”.

Cueibet County is located at Western part of Lakes state and inhabited by Gok, while the majority ethnic group of Agaar resides in Rumbek Central county.
