Kiir urges against disturbing peace in South Sudan
May 25, 2010 (JUBA) – Southern Sudan government President, Salva Kiir Mayardit has on Tuesday urged against disturbing the peace saying doing so disturbs efforts to consolidate the socio-economic gains of the semi-autonomous region.
The tribal violence that witnessed the southern Sudan last year and the deep divisions among the different ethnic groups remain one of the main challenges facing the region particularly months before a referendum where they have to decide if they want to forge a new state.
“It would be unwise to destabilize the region and disturb the same peace you fought to bring,” Kiir said in a consultative meetings with representative of youth and women leaders held in Juba on Tuesday.
“What was the reason of taking up arms twice in the south if some people knew they would disturb the same peace,” Kiir asked, warning any destructive or violent actions should not be allowed to undermine the hard-earned peace.
“We will not tolerate any attempt to destabilize the peace regardless of the difference. If one is discontented with anything, there are ways to pursue your right not through violence,” he said.
Kiir took oath last Friday but he is still consulting before to announce his new government seven months ahead of self-determination referendum.
His today meeting with representatives of youth and women leaders was seen to be one of the last meetings in the consultation to form new inclusive government.
He further told youth and women leaders never ever buy allegations from the people he described as enemies of peace and stability who preaches hatred within the region as way to get political appointment on tribal lines while accusing SPLM with unfounded and unverified accusations.
“Those talking ill of SPLM are the same people who have held lots of key executive positions in most governments on divisive tribal lines since independence of Sudan in 1956.”
“They are accustomed to division of the region on tribal lines as a way to getting political appointments hence gives no strength to unity of southern Sudanese amongst themselves on common grounds,” Kiir said adding South Sudan belongs to all her citizens and urged them to maintain peace and stability in the region.

Dear Southerners,
President Kiir Mayardit mention the core of the hatred in the South. There is no doubt that those who wanted or insisted creating chaos in the South are the enemy of the South. They were the enemy of the region since SPLM was in the war with Arab. Those foes are trying harder to create confusion in the South for them to get some leadership position, but that thinking is completely more than being the enemy. I don,t think that those who choose violence over negotation will get their desire. I support Kiir Mayardit that we have to deal with those enemy of South so that we can achieved the aimwe fought for decades. Anybody who want leadership through disturbance must dishorned and left out in the recent government as aformed of punishment.

Development often takes some good trend in almost all the entire continent who experienced war. I never heard any country which has developed ,while it recovers from war within the gap of less than 7 years. Our part of Sudan fought for 21 years because of the oppression from Khartoum government, Our aim is to get away with what we want(seperation) and latter return to the development of our new nation-South. Why are we complaining at the moment ,and why not in the years below 2005 that SPLM is corrupting the assets of the citizens? I never witnessed a single individual who thought that SPLM has been doing wrong.
I do believed that many people where thriving in their hidding spots while others were fighting without a single dim as their reward. Many people also makes moral SPLM/A oyeee when they sees them when attacking towns. I think the problem with people like you and likes is clear. It’s because most of you people were away for decades other in the Khartoum or in the neighboring countries which let halt you guys to missed how hard SPLA fought for this country.
As an SPLA, i want to encouraged you to just be patience because these 5 years you are occassionally complaining are not enough for the country/South Sudan to be developed. Even 5 years ahead of us are not the guraanteed for well equiped development because we needs those systems that can minimized corruptions, we want machinaries which can build roads, hospitals,and agricultural schemes to be effectives. I always get supprise when reading your articles because it seems that you have been despair and desperate with just hatred,no more than this.
The only thing in your mind is the hatred against the SPLM/A or those heros who left at the barrels of the guns who deserved governing. If i asked you! who do you like to rule now before 2011? I know very well that you always support Dr Lam Akol who like just difussing bad words to the people of South Sudan. And once the very person who shot South Sudanese at the back supporting jallaba. How about if he we give him presidency and latter shot you at the butt, what can you do? rebellion or surrundering?. I guess you know that hurry hurry as no blessed. Please, take your time before you get depressed because SPLM is going nowhere in the South or in Sudan entirely.
I agree with you that we need agriculture so that we can get atleast food in the South. This process has been block by the enemy of peace in the South because we have very weak heart people who are frequently used by our enemy to disturbed the South for their personal gain.
These are the kind of people who are making agriculture difficult but not the President-Kiir. This is really a taught situation because if Salva Kiir response top those enemy of peace in the South then he will be shift for his goal of focusing with the issues of referendum-Khartoum regime.
We have to deplore those who like enemy more than their brothers. And you are among them because you always fail to comprhend the issues behind us instead of talking about impossibilities.
Corruption is not that easy to be eradicate. You have to know that America gots it freedom long long time ago but there is corruption and discrimination. why not you take time and bark at the South after we seperate from the North. Please stop talking behind SPLM because we SPLA has done nothing but the free offering of lives barely.
