Sudan, Cape Verde establish diplomatic relations

May 30, 2010 (KHARTOUM) – Sudan and the Republic of Cape Verde have established diplomatic relations at the ambassadorial, the foreign ministry announced on Sunday.

The bilateral agreement for the establishment of diplomatic relations was signed on 30 May in Dakar by Sudan’s Ambassador to Senegal Khaled Mohamed Farah and Cape Verde Ambassadors to Senegal Francisco Pereira.

The two Ambassadors expressed satisfaction for the agreement, which will strengthen the relations and friendly bonds between the two countries.

Sudan’s ambassador to Senegal was nominated to be Ambassador Extraordinary Cape Verde resident in Dakar.

The Republic of Cape Verde is an island country opposite Mauritania and Senegal. It is slightly more than 4,000 square kilometers (1,500 sq mi) in area with an estimated population of over 500,000. The capital of Cape Verde is Praia.
