Sudan’s NCP says seeking including Darfuri signatories in government

May 31, 2010 (KHARTOUM) — The ruling National Party (NCP) Congress in Sudan disclosed that it is in contact with Darfur rebel groups which signed peace agreements with the government in order to be part of the upcoming cabinet, an official here said today.

On Sunday, President Omer Hassan Al-Bashir dissolved the government of National Unity (GoNU) pending an agreement with other parties on the allocating the posts primarily with the Sudan people Liberation Movement (SPLM) ruling the South.

The NCP and SPLM gained an overwhelming majority in North and South respectively in the elections held last April marred by boycotts and allegations of widespread fraud.

Kamal Obeid , a senior official at the NCP, said that all rebel movements which were signatories to agreements prior to the elections could join the government under a new formula noting that some of the Darfuri figures are now part of the new parliament.

However he cautioned that the Darfuri rebel representation would not be according to the ratios stipulated in the peace agreements. The NCP official also said that should movements negotiating with the government in Doha sign new accords then their participation will be determined on the basis of what was agreed on.

Mini Minnawi’s arm of the Sudan Liberation Army (SLA) fighting in Darfur was the only insurgent force to sign a failed peace deal in Abuja with Khartoum in 2006. Minnawi was appointed the senior assistant to Sudan’s President Omer Hassan Al-Bashir.

However, the SLA chief has persistently accused Khartoum of turning its back to the accord.

Darfurians will be the most suffering people in the entire Sudan because they do not know exactly their destiny.

They always support NCP and fought harder against SPLm/A-their own brothers and sisters while they are being hated at the same time by Northern Sudan- Arab.

South Sudan plus others will choose their destiny but you will be in the nip of bullet. Mark this!

NCP will killed all of you unless you sheft your gear before think get harder.
    You guys are confused! Thanks

Appointing position-hungry opportunists in the government to represent the people of Darfur will not solve any problem or salvage Al-Bashir from the ICC. Furthermore, experiences have shown that the real intention of the NCP in appointing such parasites individuals in the Government is to be used against their own people (tools of purposes). Accordingly, Minni Minnawi is expected in the coming Government to fight his inter-Zaghawa wars
