June 25, 2010 (JUBA) — A newly reappointed female minister in the regional government of Southern Sudan has on Friday called for dedicated support behind the president of the semi autonomous government, Salva Kiir Mayardit.

Awut Deng Achuil, minister of Labor and Public Service told her staff that dedicated support is required behind the leadership of Southern Sudan for successful and timely conduct of the referendum scheduled to take place in January 2011.

“Our commitment to supporting president Kiir must be reflected in all activities assigned to each ministry and departments,” she said, adding that she will lead the example by encouraging her ministry to ensure that there is leadership which is committed to public service delivery.

“Many people know that the Government of Southern Sudan has done a lot in the past five years but that was the beginning of new more things. We must go extra mile to seal cracks still visible in most parts of the work that is in progress. We must show our commitment now not tomorrow or any other times in the future. We must do it now because this is the time our services are needed,” she further stressed.

Awut who was addressing senior staff members of the split ministry into Labor and Public Service and Human Resources Development, said the government had done a lot towards improving skills of the staff following the restructuring of some government departments.

“A lot of work has been done and a lot has been improved. I hope you must have now realized the difference between last years and this year. They are completely different because there have been an increase in the public service reforms,” she said.

She further added that public service workers should display their determination in leadership through improvement of service delivery and called on the workers not to compromise service delivery, and instead ensure efficient implementation of programmes across the region.

She said the government has already shown commitment to advancing projects for improved service delivery through public private partnership programmes.

“The public service plays an important role in service delivery,” she said, pointing out that government is showing commitment to strengthening leadership in the public service.

Of course they are going to mobilize their support for their guarantor of office. These are just a bunch of cronies who are not really going to perform in their respective posts as long as they suck up to Kiir.

It is too early for minister of labor and public service to claims that this goverment has done alot, we all know this is a scare compaign but completely alie.Sadly, she is terribly misinformed the members of public. In my view ,much is need to be done base on the fact nothing much has been done in the last five years.

    wait a minute !!!
