Jonglei governor announces newly appointed counties’ commissioners

June 26, 2010 (BOR) – Jonglei state govermpr, Kuol Manyang Juuk, has named 11 commissioners for various counties as ministerial nominees await assembly approval early next week.

Maker Lual Kuol has maintained Bor County commissionership as well as Goi Jooyul Yoal of Akobo county and Akot Mazee Adikir of Pibor county among others. Meanwhile Dau Akoi Jurkuc (Twic East) and Thoi Ruei Ret (Ayod) are among new faces.

In related development, Jonglei state’s Caucus of the Sudan People Liberation Movement (SPLM) has approved names of state ministers, advisors and heads of commissions proposed by governor Kuol Manyang on Friday ahead of lawmakers’ endorsement scheduled to take place on Monday, June 28, 2010.

The state ministerial positions increased to 15 from 9 in the last government. There are six advisors and 2 commissions – Public Services and Anti-corruption. The new ministries are Legal Affairs; Law Enforcement; Labour & Public Services’ Livestock & Fisheries’ Cooperatives and Rural Development and Cabinet Affairs.

Three women are named as ministers and one as an advisor. The SPLM takes all but two ministries. The state ministry of Land and Physical infrastructure is reserved for the National Congress Party (NCP) and Ministry of Information and Communication for another Southern Sudan opposition party, according to the nominee list obtained by the Sudan Tribune.
