Egyptian delegation visits Sudan in secrecy to defuse tensions
June 27, 2010 (KHARTOUM) – The Egyptian government dispatched a delegation in secrecy to Sudan for talks regarding relations which have been strained over remarks made by the newly appointed foreign minister Ali Karti, according to news reports.
The Sudanese media said that Khartoum insisted on secrecy to allow for resolving differences that emerged after Karti last week criticized the Egyptian understanding of the situation in his country describing it as “shallow”.
The composition of the delegation was not known.
The independent Al-Sahafa daily said that the delegation came “with a message of admonishment” on what Karti said and in top of that the media campaign against Cairo in pro-government papers.
The issue of meetings held by the leader of the Justice and Equality Movement (JEM) in Cairo last month was also brought up. Khartoum protested the invitation extended by Cairo to the leader of the largest rebel group fighting government troops in Darfur.
The official said the Egyptians expressed surprised that Ibrahim only spent a few days in Egypt while he is currently residing in Libya for what appears to be an indefinite stay. The delegation emphasized that they are not seeking to pull the rug from under the Qataris who are hosting peace talks between Darfur rebels and Khartoum.
Sudan has been pressing Libya over the last few weeks to expel the JEM chief. Yesterday the Sudanese spy chief said Tripoli is in the process of expelling Ibrahim.
JEM withdrew from the talks saying the Sudanese government violated the framework agreement signed last February and accused the mediation and host country of being biased against them in favor of Khartoum.
Al-Sahafa said the Egyptian delegation is heading to Juba in order to meet with senior officials at the Government of South Sudan (GoSS) including President Salva Kiir. The main topics on the agenda will be the 2011 referendum and the Nile water dispute between the basin countries.

Egyptian delegation visits Sudan in secrecy to defuse tensions
The foreign Minister began his work by terminologies which does not conforming his work , such a word may be use when there is already disagreement between the nations but if not, then are not to be says, Sudan is a close friend to Egypt in term of relationship , but foreign minister will destroy it .
Somebody who has no friend is abnormal and it is rare to be found , why do foreign minister want to destroy the relationship because of personal interests , any way it is good for us we southerners, because we are not friend to Egypt but the north during war period and after all they are Arab go on do what you like .
