Unity Fund projects to be signed in Juba as Taha visits South Sudan

June 28, 2010 (JUBA) – The Vice President of the Republic of Sudan, Ali Osman Mohamed Taha, is expected to visit Juba on Thursday, heading a delegation from the Government of National Unity (GoNU).

He is expected to meet with the First Vice President of the Republic and President of the Government of Southern Sudan, General Salva Kiir Mayardit as well as the GoSS cabinet.

The meeting is also expected to be followed by signing of a number of unspecified projects funded by the Unity Fund.

The dominant National Congress Party in the Government of National Unity has recently embarked on campaigning to make unity attractive to the people of Southern Sudan in the next six months leading to the referendum on independence of the region.

Observers, however, say six months is too little a time for any tangible and significant project to materialize.

I hope SPLM would not accept the bribes of Jallab this time, but should stand firm in ensuring the conduct of the referendum

This is article has no meaning. We have no unity with jallaba again because our unity has no development. no meaning at all.
Let the Jallaba shut their mouth this time.

Trying to save unity is like trying to catch a missed train. It has left the station. The best option is to put in place a serious post-referendum agreement that will sure result in sisterly relations between the two parties.

Even Egypt is now convinced that the best way is to ensure that South is not alienated to the point that it can frustrate existing water situation in the region.

    Mohamed Ali,

You will not masked your face from me because i have know your weak heart. You pretend always while a southerner, but you will hurt yourself my dear.
Kissing Arab assess often will not help you rather than ashame to your self. Let see after 2011.

If you doesn,t know, then this country( Sudan) has been in danger since the independent in 1956. The president of this country can not handle any issue concerning the betterment of Sudanese because the only things that Arab/Northern Sudan know more than everything is the fulfilment of their islamic system in the whole country.

No wonder why the Arab nations are always behind the government system. This is simply because they mingle their religion with the governance, something that we South Sudanese can not afford in our lives.

We always need fair and adequate governmnet system that will benefits the entire citizens of the country, and indeed the free will of worshiping separately from the government. You are free to worship anything that you want, something that Northern Sudan can not afford too. Then how can we live together, while we have different ideologies in the country?. This question must be remember by AU and the IGad.

We South Sudanese are not worried why the NCP can not implemented the post referendum arangement with the SPLM. It’s because the Bashier government want the country to go to war because of the outstanding issues like oil, border, debt, Nuba & Blue Nile consultation, and many others such as census results.

What can South Sudan( GOSS) do about the referendum? We are waiting for 2011 by vote, and that will declare the stand of NCP. Omer Bashier government has no means to deny the South Sudanese right, other that will be the clear war.
    Thanks

I think Osman Taha did not understood the meaning of making unity attractive. Its like for him ,making unity attractive is campaigning only and or giving people short term opportunities/bribes like that of anyanya 2 during Joseph Lagu’s time which later was abandoned after achieving unity of south and north.Man your are lost,The southerns are developing education wise, contrary to what you in Khartoum expects(southerns to remain less educated in order to be easily deceived).

Making unity attractive would have started right after signing the CPA ,by been transparent, achieving security all over Sudan(not sponsoring militias against the black African tribes in Darfur and south Sudan),infrastructural development like education, transport, health facilities, banks etc, honest in terms of census results and elections, fair representation in the national parliament to mention but a few.

Any way, i may blame your translator during the discussion of the CPA provisions to had misinterpreted things for you.
